I know the emotions are flowing high after another very disappointing season ending playoff loss. But it’s not as bad as some want to think nor as it wasn’t as good as others wanted to think going in.

In the end we aren’t as talented a team as SF and probably not Philly either . The best two teams are arguably in the NFC Championship game .

The good news is we have much to build around with consecutive 13 win team. This was the first back to back 13 win season since the 90’s and first back to back playoff appearance since 2007.

I think we can present a fairly good argument we are trending up and or at least maintaining. We can argue we are the third best team in the NFC which is arguably an improvement over last year . Much better than most analysts and critics had us sledded for this year after making some very tough Cap moves reducing our talent on offense .

And our defense definitely took a step in the right direction. It not only kept our season alive when Dak was out but became a force while also leading league in turnovers again.

But we still need more talent at key positions on offense and on defense. We also need to accept we don’t have an Elite QB. And build around accordingly.

Overall I’m fairly impressed with our coaching and how they coexist with Jethro’s ways . I feel they are making the most of what we have on the most part . And it’s still amazes me with our dysfunctional front office and meddling owner we are able to field a competitive playoff caliber team.

I understand everyone is frustrated . But they shouldn’t have bought in to the hype surrounding this team . And shouldn’t have expected us to upset SF. The best team won much like it did last Monday night.

We were never as good as some wanted to believe nor are we as bad as some want to believe after this loss. But we have some obvious holes to fill beginning on making some serious decisions at RB, WR and TE. While continuing to shore up our DL and secondary.

Unfortunately we are probably stuck with our QB at least a couple more years but he was enough to win 13 games last couple years and make playoffs in 4 of his 7 seasons. Like most of the league you have to build around average and much less than Elite QB’s.

Too much cope in this post. The answer is clear. We’re just as good as the team that wins the Super Bowl this season. Difference is we have a dud QB that is paid to be our best player.

There again. We aren’t as good . This is the core issue with some fans analysis.

I will agree our QB is over paid and has been over valued . But most playoff teams especially in NFC have built around less than Elite QB’s.

He was a dud last night but he wasn’t for most of the season.

Dallas won 12 games last season and this season....not 13.

That said, Dak has been given many dedicated weapons and the Dallas defense was Top 5 this season....and Dak cost Dallas the game last night.....so eventually people need to realize it's Dak.

It was last night. But he was enough for most of the season. He just struggles against the best defenses .

and thanks for correction on total wins

I’m not a Dak fan. We have over paid and over hyped him. But like most of the league have to build around less than elite QB’s.

Good post. But they were better than us last year. But this front office did NOT believe it!!! The front office is ARROGANT. Remember...this front office chief architect told us almost 30 years ago....1 of 500 coaches can coach the Dallas Cowboys. He is that arrogant because he can be. Win lose or draw....the value of this franchise keeps going up....which only emboldens Jones to do what he's always done....he does it "my" way!!!

The remaining QB's right now are all studs except Purdy and he so far hasn't made any mistakes. PS. Of the 4 NFC teams that made the Divisional round I'd take all of their Qb's over Dak except Brock and frankly it wouldn't be close. They are all younger and they all have upside and they are all making a ton less money. Reality is Dak isn't going anywhere. The only way we can win with him is get a stud and I mean stud running back and pound the rock. I think our Oline is pretty good.

I’d agree with much of that.

The evermore reason it’s impressive we made it this far with Dak. He’s been over paid and over hyped . But as I look around the other QB’s in NFC playoffs none really stand out like in AFC.

The 2 best rostered teams in the NFC are in the championship game as they should be.

Well coached and disciplined. Plain and simple.

The Cowboys season ended where it should have, however a great quarterback could have made the difference as well as our best RB going down contributed ad well

We also relapsed into the penalties and low football IQ world again too

I think at least this year Hurts is the second best QB in the league. Now, that could just be a one time thing, but he playing like a top 5 QB.

Agree. My son and I are die hard Dallas Fans and we said the best teams in the NFC this year were San Fran and Philly hands down. Interestingly we thought Cinn and KC were the best in the AFC. Joe B in Cinn is Joe Montana like in the way he can read defenses and get the ball out of his hands. Baring injury he will be the next 50 million dollar QB, but he will have earned it on the field.

If the Cowboys continue to award players who can't deliver clutch plays in big moments with big contracts, things will never change.

Man, Burrow is money. Goes to snowing buffalo without 3 offensive starting lineman and pulls out an easy win......yeah, I'm envious as hell, lol

Ls don’t hurt as much when you have realistic expectations. Philly and SF were the 2 most talented teams in the NFC. I wish we would’ve won but I’m not surprised we lost to one of those teams in the road. We aren’t built for it yet.

Get a DT, keep chipping away at the OL and maybe actually get your QB some weapons and I think we can compete.

Is Dak elite after that Bucs game though?

That's what we need to know, right?
