It pains Michael Irvin to see Troy Aikman working with the Dolphins

Michael Irvin was asked about his feelings on seeing Troy Aikman in a consulting role with the Miami Dolphins front office, rather than with Dallas.

Irvin: “…it pains me to see that happening because I know Troy wanted to do that. Troy wanted a John Elway situation here in Dallas, and I know he wanted it. Certainly, he’s earned it, but it’s not going to happen, and I rest my mind to that reality…”

Irvin says he knows the Jones family wouldn’t hand over the franchise to Aikman like the Denver Broncos did with Elway, but he wishes the front office would gather as much information as possible from someone who’s experienced a lot, knows a lot, and understands what success looks like.

Every single day, since March 29, 1994, has been a testament to Jerry Jones total embrace of Charlton Heston's famous quote, "From my cold, dead hands!"

Except it is all about inflexible control of football management. It is not, you know, nothing to do with, well, that other thing Heston was talking about.

Troy has a long history of being openly critical of Jerry and his management of the team. This alone would disqualify Troy from a job with the Cowboys. Thats just how things have been run since 1994. Jerry has never put the interests of the team above his own. Never. Why would he start now?

What the heck are you talking about? Troy was responsible for the injuries that destroyed Lefleur's career? That dude was a beast in college before the injuries derailed his pro career.

Is Troy the GM or just a consultant? I personally would have loved it if he came to dallas in a similar role but nothing like that will happen until the Jones family no longer owns the team
