their defense only allowed one team to score 30 points, except for that last meaningless game where they sat everyone.
they were 4th in points allowed.
so even in a down year for Mahomes, they won 15 games and now once again for 3rd time in a row are in the superbowl.

Philly was 2nd in point allowed.

although Philly was end in rushing, KC was 22nd.

defense wins championships. two of the best defenses in the league are playing in the superbowl.

and we tend to pick up garbage nobody else wants to fill the roster.....or Draft a Mazi smith.

Yep, we talk about how great Mahomes is, but KC had 35 rushes vs 26 passes yesterday. This is the 3rd year in row that both super bowl teams have had top 5 scoring defenses. You need your QB to come through and make a couple timely throws every game, but these guys are not winning and losing on their own. Honestly from yesterdays game if KC doesnt stop Buffalo on multiple 2 point conversions we might be talking about Buffalo in the super bowl.

Invest heavily in your defense. It seems pretty rare that top 10 defenses are not making it to the postseason.

I cannot imagine a team making it to the Super Bowl with an inferior defensive line. Chris Jones makes 3 times what the entire Dallas DT squad makes. The Cowboys put no value on the DT position and make only half-hearted attempts to address it. What they need to do is get more aggressive about fixing the problem.

And by the way, watching the playoffs and seeing Neville Gallimore, Carl Davis and Jordan Phillips making big plays for other teams is infuriating. It seems like the Cowboys simply do not know how to coach, or utilize DTs.

And yet there’s people in the draft zone pushing for a TE at 12, despite TE never having been a big part of Shottenheimers offense’s and having Ferguson and Schoomaker who both already have or are capable of surpassing the output of the position in his past offenses!

This is why i am high on the Eberflus hiring. 3 out of 4 years in Indy he had top 10 scoring defenses with not the best personnel.

The most telling metric is QB rating differential.

Usually the SB contenders rank in the top 8ish at worst.

If your QB rating is limited by your QB, the best way to help the team is to give them a great defense.

I think our philosophy is wrong because we, for years, have preached about being QB friendly and not team friendly.

Until they can find quality interior DL then they won't be able to have a good defense. They can have all of the edge rushers to rack up sacks and ballhawks in the secondary to rack up INTs but that will just be a fraudulent defense if there is still a big weakness in the middle.
