Seven of the eight QB's in the divisional round were drafted in the 1st round. The other QB was drafted in the 2nd round.

2025: Get the right head coach. Use the draft/FA period to make both sides of the trenches rock solid. Get that true #2 WR and a back that compliments Rico--a true RBBC approach.

2026: Move the Earth to get that top rated QB prospect. If the rebuild is done correctly, the new QB will have good pieces in place. Post-season maybe?

2027: We should be in the post-season by this year at the latest. Other teams have done it, so can we.

People use the term "franchise QB" and it's true teams need one. But there is a difference between a franchise QB and one capable of winning the super bowl. Almost every year teams making the divisional round primarily have a QB who can take a team all the way. And those QB's are taken very early in the draft. This year especially shows that to be true.

The Cowboys have a franchise QB but unfortunately we know he is good enough to get you in the playoffs but nothing more. But instead of investing in a QB that can help take the team further in the playoffs, the Cowboys invested in the 'get you to the playoffs QB'. Hopefully they can see the light and make the necessary moves to get the other kind of QB in a couple of years.

You will continue to get your 4th round projects, UDFA shots in the dark, and a few Ben DeNuccis thrown in.....and you will not like it

Drafting a QB in the first round, even a highly touted QB coming out of college is no guarantee. See Daniel Jones, Trevor Lawrence, and so many other QBs taken early.

I admit, taking a top prospect out of college improves the chances of finding that guy, but most of them still fall short.

IMO, the money being paid to QBs is unsustainable. Either owners have to show restraint, or they need to change their identity. We can win with Dak, but not if we think of him a s a top QB capable of pulling the trailer. It's too late of course because Jerry already paid Dak to be something he can never be. Pay Dak $45 million, and build a running game and stout defense, and the Cowboys could win with Dak. But if you ask Dak to do what Mahomes does, or Josh Allen in Buffalo, then you will be disappointed.

Tom Brady made the point last night that the threat of Jayden Daniels running changed the Detroit defense and left them vulnerable to certain plays up the middle. The point is, you have to have a real threat or threats on offense to beat modern defenses. The Cowboys have no real threats except CeeDee. There is no running game. There is no real deep threat. There is no threat of screens. Dak has to do far more than he has the talent to do. A wise GM would put lots of talent around Dak so he always has a target to throw to or to hand off to. This is what Kingsbury has done for Daniels, plus Daniels is a very elusive runner himself who can make big plays. It works for Washington.

Detroit has done this with Goff. Goff is successful until he has to throw the football. Then he reverts to Jared Goff. Detroit is built for defense as well, but all the injuries prevented them from being who they really are. Their game plan is to let Goff succeed because he doesn't have to carry the entire burden.

Goff got $53 million from Detroit but his 2024 CAP his was $27 million. His 2025 CAP hit is $32 million. His 2026 CAP hit is $69 million but that is still $20 million lower than Dak's $89 million in 2025.

Don't get me wrong. I think Dallas now needs to find a replacement for Dak. Getting a young rookie to replace Dak would be a great start. I have nothing against Dak but his contract is an Albatross.

I'm so tired of yall thinking it's the players without first acknowledging that the owner and his family are the problem. If they aren't willing to change the way they operate, NOTHING is going to change. We'll continue to have good teams while failing to go the extra step that would put the team over the top. They're hoping to catch lightning in a bottle the same way we as fans are. All so they can say, "see, I did it my way!"

Ok, keep building the offense while your defense is undermanned, and keep blaming the defense. Cycle on repeat.

Jerry/Stephen have to change their operation before you can realistically dream up team building scenarios. No real FA activity, fleeced in every trade for other teams trash, fleeced in contract negotiations, and now mediocre drafts...this is reality, good luck.

Everyone knows the owners here suck. But Dak sucks just as much.

Who have you witnessed saying that the Joneses aren't the biggest problem?

Their big off-season acquisition…every year…is their first round pick.

Jerry is going to spend at least the next few trying to prove himself right and get his ROI on the 240m he gave to #4.

Anyone expecting a first round QB any time soon is as delusional as Jerry….although I do admire the hope. I was once there.
