Janis Joplin

Not a fan. It was a tie for which could make my throat hurt the worst listening to them sing, Joplin or Cocker. But I liked Belushi doing Cocker and I think he could have done a good Joplin.

An interesting individual...

I run hot & cold on her songs. Some I really enjoy. On others her gravelly voice was just too much.

I like voices that are unique... But I prefer unique voices that are a little smoother like Patsy Cline, Lynn Anderson and Linda Ronstadt.

I like her music and need to be in the right mood for it. It sucks that she died. I heard that she got an extra strong batch of heroin without knowing it was way more potent than what she usually used. So she shot up with what she thought was her typical dose and it killed her. Such a shame.

In my top three female vocalists. Sometimes #1, depending on my mood.

Not me. How do you define top 3? For me it has to be the full range of emotions. With inner joy, happiness, sadness being shown with a tenderness. A real depth.

I like Janis Joplin.

Quick fact. Kris Kristofferson wrote "Me and Bobbi Mcgee" and did not know Joplin recorded her version until the day after her death when he heard it on the radio. Her version is the only one that went number...the only version that went number 1.
