Just a matter of time before more come online due to power shortages and public pressure for the most affordable electricity that the country can produce.

Good. People here wanted us to shut down ours after what happened in Japan. Complete foolishness.

Japan, Inc. Not about any power shortages for the people. All about jobs and the nuclear industry who is in bed with the politicians. The nuclear industry was on its death bed in Japan. Huge amounts of money were at stake. Knowing Japan and the way "business" is done, I'm sure a lot of money mysteriously found its way into politicians pockets from the pro-nuclear crowd. The Japanese government sacrificed the Okinawans many years ago and has no problem sacrificing mainlanders this time.

How long do you think this PM Noda will last? He doubled the sales tax and started their nuke plants back up under large opposition. Yeah, there is a recipe for political success. Within a year they will have a new PM. It would not surprise me to see him step down within a few months.

And they still don't have a clue about what to do with Hukushima. Keep pouring water in for the next ten plus years and hope the cracks don't get bigger and pray no other earthquake happens. Not a good option but the only option they have concerning Hukushima.

The sales tax doubled, if it actually did happen, because Japan's debt to GDP ratio is over 200% and that's wholly unsustainable. Take a look at Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ireland, et al and check their debt/GDP ratios and look at uproar over their economies. Now look at the SIZE of Japan's economy versus the nations I've listed. Japan's economy rests on a razor's edge and an self-imposed energy crisis created by kowtowing to irrational fears based on ignorance will push them over the brink.

Either reading or comprehension, or quite possibly both, are not your strong suit. Your lack of understanding the articles and the timeframe of the articles you posted made me laugh, though.

I was in Japan for three weeks in April. There was no power shortages or outages. I have in-laws and friends in Japan. My in-laws experienced only two blackouts (very short periods) since the tsunami/earthquake.

I'm sure you have some wealth of experience and large number of people in Japan you know to base your thoughts on, not just those 4 articles you posted.
