I think Jerry's thinking was ...
If Zimmer had good success as the defensive coordinator , he was being promoted to HC. Now , I don't think he's even being considered to continue as DC. Players aren't playing motivated under him. Too many soft, keep your feet planted and wait for defender to come to you BS. OK BACK TO WORK. :banghead:

Don't count Zimmer out from becoming the next coach, you have to remember this is Jerrah.

Thirty-five years later, the Cowboys are worth a staggering $11 billion, $3 billion more than any other team in the National Football League .

You can say anything about Jerry the GM , but he is a genius business man .

Yes they are. We are grossly undertalented on D. Players are playing very hard, they are just not good enough.

Seriously, where do you get this from? BSPN drivel?

Qualified GM's 6
Genius businessman 3

But there is still the consolation that Jerry vacuumed more cash from Cowboy fans pockets than any other NFL team owner.
.....hooray!

That wasnt necessarily the plan. Zimmer was likely one of the few willing to come here on a lame duck one year contract. I wouldn't read anything past that. The whole everybody coaching for their jobs thing on expiring contracts has blown up in Jerry's face big time.

Would you make him your head coach, after he destroyed the defense . It may have been an initial plan, but I still don’t think so. We never expected McCarthy to blow up the season like this. So I don’t think Jerry had any plans other than keeping Mike personally

That’s not a plan. It’s wishful thinking.

He is a really good business man. No doubt about that. The problem is, as smart as he is he is not smart enough to surround himself with actual football people and listen to them. Ego is his Achilles heal. Too stubborn to admit he’s not the smartest at everything
