After playing the same numbers for 20 years, a local man has finally hit the jackpot.

Jerry Jones won $9 million on a Hoosier Lotto ticket bought at Village Pantry, 4900 E. Jackson St. He matched all six numbers in the Wednesday - and defied odds of 1 in more than 12 million to do it, according to a press release.
In a press conference at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters in Indianapolis on Friday, Jones explained that three of his winning numbers are related to his birthday and one of the numbers represents a day that is very meaningful to him. It is the day he was shot in Vietnam where he served as a Marine.

Jones' winning numbers are: 5-17-21-27-29-41.

"I saw the winning numbers on the computer screen," said Jones. "I held my ticket up against the screen and was just staring at it. I didn't know what to do - and I still don't!"

The first thing Jones did was turn the ticket over to get the phone number for Hoosier Lottery Customer Service.

"The nice woman on the phone asked me if I had signed the back of the ticket," Jones said. "I hadn't yet, so she said, 'Mr. Jones, do it now!'"

Jones said he has not decided whether he will take payment as a $9 million 30 year annuity or in a lump sum of approximately $3.5 million. He has 60 days to decide. The 69-year-old says he will probably take the cash option.

"I already have everything that I want," Jones said.

But he did say he intends to buy a new truck.

The Village Pantry that sold the winning ticket will receive a $90,000 bonus. (1 percent of $9 million capped at $100,000).

Jones is the tenth Hoosier Lotto winner since February 2009. He is the first Hoosier Lotto winner of 2010. The jackpot had been rolling for 9 weeks since it was last hit on Dec. 30, 2009 in New Albany for $5 million. That prize was claimed by Phyllis Stonecipher and Delores Wheeler of New Albany.

There is no justice in the world.

EDIT: Looks like we can release Roy now.

The article is pretty funny if you pretend it's actually the Cowboys' owner.
