The Jets are expected to consider trading, or even releasing, OLB Bryan Thomas if they acquire free agent Jason Taylor.

Thomas is due a reasonable $2.5M salary in 2010, but managed just two sacks in 16 starts last year. Entering his age-31 campaign, the Jets may believe the former first-round pick has reached his "falling off the cliff" stage.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that a "lot of people" believe the Jets will get free agent Jason Taylor signed before the end of the day.

A deal "very well could happen" during Taylor's Wednesday visit to Florham Park, Schefter confirms. Reporters like Jason La Canfora of NFL Network have doubted the marriage, but Schefter and the Newark Star-Ledger seem to believe one is likely. We should know more by day's end at the latest.

What does this even mean? The New York daily news must be outsourcing their editing to India.

They actually speak proper English in India - unlike in NY. I've lived in both locations. :)

We don't need an old OLB we've got many young OLBs waiting in the wings that are gonna be in better shape and more energy, less wear & tear. No need to sign a 31 year old to play OLB. We need to get younger if anything. Very interesting that Jason Taylor would be willing to go to the Jets, everything in his past has indicated his hate for that team.
