There are countless theories and half-truths that exist about the 1990s Dallas Cowboys, starting and ending with a friendship that can’t quite be defined, yet remains inexplicably fascinating.

From his home in the Florida Keys, one of half the Jimmy/Jerry duo sounds as if he is in a wonderful place, not only geographically but with his entire life.

Jimmy Johnson does want to clear up one misconception, and put to rest a fan/media theory that has only grown over these last few decades.

There is the theory that Jimmy Johnson does not want to see the Dallas Cowboys succeed, certainly not win a Super Bowl; that he privately takes joy in the fact that team under Jerry Jones has not won a Super Bowl with a team that he built.

“No, that’s not true,” Johnson said Tuesday morning in a phone interview. “The Dallas Cowboys are a big part of my career, and I want them to be successful.

Because he knows that is the only way he will ever get in the Ring of Honor ...... If Jerry wins a Superbowl with a team Jimmy did not build
That is what I have been saying as well.

Jerry does not want the fans drooling over Jimmy until another Cowboys coach wins a Super Bowl to diminish what Jimmy accomplished.

After 29 years since Jimmy left, along with a free Super Bowl win parting gift that Jimmy setup for the Cowboys, it is long past the time that Jimmy should be recognized in the Ring of Honor and Jerry to admit he was wrong.

Unfortunately, it is seeming like that will never happen until the Cowboys win another Super Bowl.

Jimmy is like most people who watch the Cowboys. He’s buyin’.

“This is the best Cowboys team I’ve seen in a long time. Mike (McCarthy) is doing a great job. I know (defensive coordinator) Dan Quinn is a heck of a coach,” Johnson said. “Micah Parsons is as impactful of a player as there is.

“It’s going to come down to them and Philadelphia as far as the division. Home field advantage is going to be so important. I see Philadelphia with one or two losses besides their game against the Cowboys on Christmas Eve.

“The Cowboys have talent. And they’ve have explosive offense now with Dak Prescott back. To beat them you’ve got to score on them, and that’s going to be tough.”

I agree that Jerry doesn't want Jimmy in the ring until he wins one without him, but I don't think that's Jimmy's reason for wanting the Cowboys to win.

The funny thing is, at this stage it's too late. Even if Dallas wins a SB, it's been so long that it will just be viewed as winning despite him

If we win the super bowl this year I'll still give Jimmy more credit than Jerry...Just to piss him off.

This will be one of those things, Jimmy won't go into the ROH until after he is gone, just like Pete Rose not being in the HOF. Which is why I will never spend a dime on MLB until that happens while Pete is alive.
The thing is Jerry may be gone before Jimmy, so then it falls upon Stephen. Unless it is some dying declaration Jerry has.

Jimmy becomes the most-sought-after person next to a current Cowboys player, coach or owner if the Cowboys make the Super Bowl.
His legend gets rehashed over and over and over again for those weeks preceding the Super Bowl.
He's the most-sought-after guest on "Radio Row" all during Super Bowl week.
Of course, Jimmy hopes the Dallas Cowboys make it to the Super Bowl. ;)
