Joey Harrington is expected to be on the block, good back-up in Dallas or not?

The Dolphins are not expected to pay Joey Harrington's $1 million roster bonus that's due in March.

He'll either be cut along with his $3.48 million cap number or have to re-do his contract. Cam Cameron couldn't say who he thinks might be his QB on Friday, so there remains a remote chance it'll be Harrington.

If all I had behind Culpepper is Cleo Lemon and Shane Matthews I'd keep Harrington and re-do his deal.

Not. Sign Ricky Ray, All-Star CFL QB of the Edmonton Eskimos. 2 time Grey Cup Winner. Tall, smart, young, accurate, tough.

I think that we'll look for a guy who is like Garrett - a guy who isn't ever going to be a starter -- Doug Johnson comes to mind, so does Tim Rattay. Maybe even bring Anthony Wright back. These are guys Garrett might mentor into players like himself.

I know folks like Huard but he might end up starting somewhere.

I expect we'll also have a young developmental guy - a late round pick, rookie FA, or a former high pick with a few strikes against him.

I'm not opposed to bringing in Harrington, but let's also see how Baker looks in preseason.

We may already have a developmental guy on the roster in Baker. Tough to say at this point, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Boys picked up a qb in the 5-7th rounds.

As far as a backup, that could take many turns between now and training camp. There are always surprise cuts and deals made between now and then.

Are there any other better options available?

Another vet option -- and one that folks may laugh at -- is Testeverde -- Bill is gone but Romo talked about how important Vinny was to his development.

We do not have the time to work Baker in preseason to find out if he can be a backup. By the time we realize he is a dime a dozen, we will be stuck up the proverbial creek without a paddle. Once the camps are breaking, you are fortunate to get rubbish like Kerry Collins. The last thing we need to hear is Vinny Testeverde speculation in the summer.

We will need a veteran backup and there are very few to choose from to begin with. I would just sign Rattay as a free agent and be done with it. He's an experienced West Coast Offense player and would be a solid addition.

Harrington would fit good.

I also still like Touisasopo in Oakland, as a backup. Though I cannot spell his name, his skills are very similar to Romos. He has around five years experience, and certainly could use a change of scenery. Plus, I think Turner drafted him, or at least had him on the team while he was there.

I don't even think Oakland likes him as a backup. He is terrible.

I like him. Not sure why he never made it as he had some skills. We need someone who is a proven winner IMO. Vinnie is not a horrible thought. Wright is a better one. He is vastly more experienced now and good carry the club for a few games IMO.

Shame too. They really wanted Quincy with that pick.

I'm pretty sure Norv Turner was with San Diego that year, they drafted Drew Brees.

Depends if Harrington is ok with being a backup and wont rock the boat. If he thinks he is going to come in and compete with Romo for the starter job, he is crazy.

Also if he will take back up money, Jerry is not going to drop coin on a backup QB.

I would go with Tim Rattay, Alex Smith's backup in SF. He already knows Turner's offense, would be reasonable money wise, and would not come in and think he should be starter.

If not Rattay, maybe Testerverde. Jeez, the guy older than the crypt keeper but if the Pats trusted him to backup Brady, I guess he can still play a little bit.

thoughts???
