Bucs QBs: The Bucs' release of quarterback Bruce Gradkowski wasn't much of a surprise. But continue to watch for Chris Simms to be a roster casualty toward the end of training camp. The Bucs are pretty well set at quarterback with Jeff Garcia starting and Brian Griese as backup. If Simms is released, the Chicago Bears could be interested. The Bears did nothing at quarterback during the offseason other than trade Brian Griese. Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton are battling for the starting job. If Simms is available, don't be surprised if the Bears look seriously at signing him.

that would be a stupid move

groom Simms to be the backup at least, and hopefully he'll still have something when Garcia decides to hang 'em up

I think they are going to groom Josh Johnson

There might be some bad blood between Sims and Gruden after his injury last year. I cannot remember everything about it, but I think it sounded like some were questioning Chris' toughness before they found out about the extent of his injury. I might be wrong though.

it is hard to believe the Bears are not looking somewhere for a qb

I think people are forgetting he is their third quarterback. That guy could turn out to be a real good one.

Don't teams usually groom a QB to be the starter? I've never heard of a team grooming one to be a backup.

The Bears entire QB situation is stupid.

not sure if we would want simss or not,, there were reports that the intestines that they operated on him, and removed, or whatever the surgery did, was real intensive and that simms might not be able to really play pro football at a high level again

i do remember a QB that did have intestine surgery, but im not gonna mention his name due to fact, you might be thinking that i am saying smms is that type of QB. I am not saying that, just both had intestine extensive surgery and the reports i heard about simms now werent too good for playing pro football,

however jerry jones did say they would be interested in adding a young backup QB to Romo,

Now if Simms could be had for cheap he is one guy I wouldn't mind taking a look at as a back up here because he has game experience, fairly accurate arm, and while he probably would never lead a team to a Superbowl he's the kind of guy I feel could come in for a 2-4 game stretch and keep you on the path toward the playoffs, instead of watching the whole season go down the drain.
