Had not heard this or seen it posted on this board. I guess I had my head in the sand but this is a major commit for Texas. With the signing of Brown this year and Gray next, Texas is going to have a serious running game in next few years.

They very well may look more like Alabama than a Big 12 team when Mack is finished retooling them. It sounds like they plan to be much more physical all-around...but we'll see if it actually happens that way.

The top two backs in the entire country are from Texas this year (Gray, Trey Williams) and one is committed to A&M and one to Texas. It's nice to see all the elite Texas runningback talent staying in state for a change. I hate the Okies and LSU dipping into our talent pool.

Amen to that! I hope they stay in state, for me obviously with UT, but if not there is TCU, a&m, tech, etc

I don't know much about recruits, but I'm glad we are getting a good RB

Hook em!!!!

We actually already have a very good RB in this years recruiting class. We signed Malcolm Brown, a 5 start back who is considered the best RB prospect in the Nation. He's a legit 6' 220 lbs down hill running power back. He has a punishing running style. This kid is not a slow plugger. He's got decent agility and pretty good balance. He's exactly the type of back that Mack needed to make this new offense work. With the addition of Gray, another 5 star back from the 2012 class, you get a 5'11" 200 lbs cutting, slashing, home run back with speed and quickness. This kid ran for 2798 yards and 50 TDs as a Soph. In his Jr. year, he ran for 3223 yards, 9.2 YPC and 59 TDs, breaking the state record of 57 that has been held by the Sugar Land Express Ken Hall since 1953. This kid is the real deal.

Texas is really coming. Mack has put together one heck of a coaching staff after suffering a melt down last year and these guys are recruiting. Texas has already received commitments from 4 of the top 50 players in the Country and 7 of the top 100. They need to sign some OL talent but overall, they're really doing a nice job IMO.

Unfortunately, we've lost the top recruit in our state to FSU. The second ranked player in the country Mario Edwards, DE out of Denton has given a verbal to the Noles. Texas really had no shot at him because they signed Wilson and Jeffcoat in 2010 and they also have Alex Okafor. There just wasn't room for the kid if he wanted playing time immediately but how the heck did TAM or TCU or one of the other instate schools allow him to get away? You like to have these kinds of players but you just can't get em all but honestly, somebody in state should have stepped up and signed this kid.

I'm very happy with Brown going to Texas. I got to see the State Championship game Cibolo Steele vs Denton Guyer and Brown looked very good.

In that game I also saw J.W. Walsh very good QB who will be heading to Oklahoma State

Edwards is an FSU legacy. He's been a silent commit to them since his sophomore year in high school. Nobody else ever had a chance.

I am fully aware of his father's history there, He was a Cover Corner in the mid 90s, but I think your dead wrong on there never being a chance he was going anywhere else. Not saying it would have been easy but I don't think schools went after him nearly as hard because they felt like he was going to FSU. That guy is a talent. I think you go after him regardless and recruit him hard.

I think FSU is going to quickly become a power again under the new regime.

If Jimbo Fisher is half as good a coach as he is a recruiter they'll be back at the top consistently within the next 2-3 years.

Ya, seems like they are taking over all the talent from Florida again

James Wilder Is an absolute beast. I came across this pic the other day. He looks like he's 30!!! Scary

It literally looks like his arms are going to explode!

From what I've read, he will get a chance to compete for carries, but could also be a LB. Either way, the guy is a freak!

Correct link:

James Wilder Jr.

I saw Brown in person twice....vs Madison and then vs Judson. The Judson game was a classic. He did well in that game, but not as good as in others. To be honest, the Steele QB and WR Glass did quite a bit of damage against us.

I am very happy that Brown is a Longhorn. I want a power running game out of the I formation. I want play action passes. I want to use TEs again. I want OL that actually have a shot to get drafted in the NFL, especially the first 3 rounds.

He's been a silent commit since about 8 years old, lol.

I am surprised they even stayed and went to high school in Texas.
