Jonathan Mingo at 58?

Mingo is a guy that have shown interest, and has been rising up boards. Its starting to look he is being considered a 2nd rounder. What would your reaction be to Jonathan Mingo at 58

Mingo is good. But 58 is too rich, at least a round too high.

I would consider it a reach.

I am an alum who doesn't keep up with the team in depth so I asked a fan who does. His feeling was late second or third round. That matched up with my gut feeling.

Seems like a guy who should be a solid NFL receiver with some upside to become more than solid. Probably never elite but could be well above average.

You could be right to some degree. If doesn't seem to be a draft with many top-tier receivers with height.

I really like him, but weeks ago he wasn't pushing the 2nd round on anyone's board. Caught fire somewhere along the line.

When people move up media boards at this juncture its usually because media scouts use intel from teams on where they have guys on their board. If Mingo is moving up to the second round on media boards, its probably because that is where alot of NFL teams have him

Guys that have his size / speed combo and that produced in the SEac are usually going to get snatched early.

I think he’s often looked at as a 3rd rounder but the 2nd wouldn’t surprise me at all. Depending on the board I’d like it.

Tolbert was a highly productive kid from a smaller school who shined against the SEC. That likely will need 2-3 years to develop.

Mingo put up decent #s his senior year. But I believe too many people want to make him the next AJ Brown, DK Metcalf etc because he went to Ole Miss.

No worse gauge for a players value than mock sims

This kind of thing happens sometimes. A player is said to be a 4th round pick and for a couple of months, everyone is mocking him to their favorite team in the 4th (or later depending on the mock draft sim).

Then, the pre draft process continues and a guys value rises up to a 2nd round pick and everybody is upset because they used to get him much later. Now, getting the same guy, they no longer have a 2nd to get the other guy they’ve been mocking in the 2nd round.

The guy’s value is what it is. If teams are now going to take him in the 2nd then you have to spend a 2nd if you want him.

That being said, I don’t know if I’d use a 2nd to get him.

No joke. Mock sims are typically about as wrong as you can get. Where a guy is on those things means less than nothing.

He will be a 2nd rounder. He’s picking up steam and has been noticed … similar to Trey Palmer
