Remind me again why the lockout is the big blockade to firing a coach.
If you have a coach you are going to fire at the end of year, and you do fire him at the end of the year, you are looking for a coach in February.
If you fire the coach now and let someone take over as a sign of displeasure and unwillingness to suffer garbage results, you're still looking for a coach in February.
The only possible other outcome is the interim comes out and gets the team to play well enough to earn a shot at being the HC from that point forward. Either way, I do not see a negative here.
There is no use in hanging on to dead weight. Fire the guy and promote someone from within. It's pretty simple, IMO.
