Just some ideas for what we could do this offseason

Well, so much for a quiet offseason lol. I just saw that we signed WR Allen Hurns, formerly of the Jaguars, to a 2 year $12 million deal. (Sidenote, if the mods wish to move this to draft zone, that's fine)

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...-hurns-signs-twoyear-deal-with-dallas-cowboys

I'm glad about that for a few reasons. Firstly, that is a pretty good deal for a WR, especially considering the money that was being thrown around for WRs earlier in FA. Essentially, we're spending $6 mil a year for a solid WR. I think that is a bargain for a solid WR. Let's not forget that he ran a 4.55 coming out of college (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allen_Hurns). That's not bad speed. So, what that means is that now we have a roster with good WRs. Look at our roster of WRs now (More WRs than this, but these are the ones that are the likeliest to have a roster spot):

Dez Bryant (Personally, I'd like to keep him for this season, but who knows?)
Allen Hurns
TWill (will come back to him later in this thread)
Cole Beasley (will come back to him later)
Deonte Thompson (I think it was a good move, and a speed WR)
Ryan Switzer
Noah Brown

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas_Cowboys#Current_roster

That's now a formidable set of WRs. Now, the problem is that we're likely not keeping all 6 of those WRs. So, that's where some creative ideas come into play. So, these are just some ideas that I've come up with. You may not like it, but that's okay. They're just part of my whimsical ideas on this Friday afternoon. After that, I'll also show my ideas for the draft after this. There will be 2 versions of the draft to cover two ideas that I have for it.

Firstly, I'd try to trade Terrance Williams. I know I'm frequently seen talking about such moves, but don't get me wrong, I actually like the guy. I just think that we signed essentially a carbon copy of him in Deonte Thompson. I think Deonte Thompson is essentially a faster version of TWill that catches with his hands, but I think Deonte Thompson can fill the role of a possession WR like TWill does for us. So, I'd first look for a trade partner with TWill. I think Seattle would be the first team I'd try to tag with TWill.

Firstly, I think they remember full well what TWill can do after his insane catch in 2014 against them. They don't exactly have a great set of WRs. So, maybe we can try and spring TWill. I'd also check with the Detroit Lions. Tehir WR group isn't exactly eye-popping. Same goes for the LA Chargers. I mean, who is Phillip Rivers going to throw to? In fact, I could see it turning into a bit of a war between Seattle and the LA Chargers (still doesn't feel as good as calling them the San Diego Chargers). For this scenario, let's assume that the Chargers end up giving us an extra 5th for TWill (just hypothetical).

Then there's Cole Beasley. I like the guy, but I could see us moving him. If we are to move him, I'd try Denver. They remember what Wes Welker did for them, and they have a pretty good QB in Keenum. So, Denver would be the first team I'd tap to see if I can get them to bite. I'd also check with the Cardinals and Ravens. Those 2 could also use a slot receiver like Beasley. Let's assume that we get a 4th for Beasley from Denver.

I'd then make a push to sign Cameron Fleming. If we sign him, that means we can move Collins back to LG, and then our Oline would be solved for this season. We'd have a solid line, and our WRs would be in good shape.

So, now, let's go to the draft if we make those moves.

Draft scenario 1 (my personal favorite):

R1: ILB Roquan Smith Georgia (anyone that can make Belichick smile is good enough for me) or Rashaan Evans (If Roquan Smith is unavailable).
R2: DE Da'shawn Hand Alabama (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/dashawn-hand?id=2560096)
R3: DT B. J. Hill NC State (I get that he's a big 1 tech, so probably not Marinelli's type, but we could use a DT here).
R4 (From Denver): SS Kyzir White WVU (Someone who I think could be a solid safety for us)
R4 (16): OLB Fred Warner BYU (Double dipping on LB, but giving us a solid LB)
R4 (37): OT Brandon Parker North Carolina A&T (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/brandon-parker?id=2559840)
R5 (from Chargers): WR Deontay Burnett USC (http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/deontay-burnett?id=2560143)
R5: CB Darius Phillips Western Michigan (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/darius-phillips?id=2559919)
R6 (first of 3): G Colby Gossett Appalachian State (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/colby-gossett?id=2559969 More depth at Guard)
R6 (2 of 3): DT PJ Hall Sam Houston State (a friend of mine from college, and an absolute beast at DT).
R6 (3 of 3): OLB Keishawn Bierria Washington (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/keishawn-bierria?id=2559820). Triple dipping at LB
R7: DE Justin Lawler SMU (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/justin-lawler?id=2559934)

Draft scenario 2:

R1: S Derwin James - Instantly boosts our secondary. He would make a good FS allowing Xavier Woods and Frazier to stay at SS. Furthermore, he allows Byron Jones to take over at slot CB for Scandrick.
R2: ILB Malik Jefferson Texas - Solid linebacker
R3: DE Duke Ejiofor Wake Forest - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/duke-ejiofor?id=2559868
R4 (from Denver): CB Kevin Toliver LSU - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/kevin-toliver?id=2560223 makes our secondary even stronger).
R4 (16): OLB Fred Warner BYU (Double dipping from Jefferson, but he gives us solid depth at LB. When's the last time we could say that?)
R4 (37): OT Brandon Parker North Carolina A&T - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/brandon-parker?id=2559840
R5 (from Chargers): WR Deontay Burnett USC - http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/deontay-burnett?id=2560143
R5: CB Darius Phillips Western Michigan - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/darius-phillips?id=2559919
R6 (first of 3): G Colby Gossett Appalachian State - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/colby-gossett?id=2559969 More depth at Guard
R6 (2 of 3): DT PJ Hall Sam Houston State - a friend of mine from college, and an absolute beast at DT
R6 (3 of 3): OLB Keishawn Bierria Washington - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/keishawn-bierria?id=2559820. Triple dipping at LB
R7: DE Justin Lawler SMU - http://www.nfl.com/draft/2018/profiles/justin-lawler?id=2559934

So, now we'd have an improved offense and a MUCH improved defense. I don't know about you all, but I would feel very good going into the season with this roster.

So yes, these are just thoughts that I felt that I wanted to share. If you don't like them, that's fine lol. It's just stuff I've been thinking about.
