I know Google did a public WiFi in SF area, but I think Google was looking for a small area to test it (the fiber) out on and this town in Kansas renamed their town Google or something like that and offered some other perks if they would start there and they did.

As for other places, I don't think so. I think this was the initial test bed. If all goes well, they may start expanding it.
