Knicks get:

Towns

Timberwolves get:

Julius Randle

Donte Divincenzo

First round pick

This makes the Knicks very interesting. Towns is undeniably one of the most talented players in the NBA and as a stretch big with a 40% career 3p% really opens things up for the Knicks offensively

The downside is, Towns has been a soft player and has had struggles during the playoffs. However, New York has better scoring threats outside the top 2 than Minnesota did. Towns just needing to be defended on the perimeter will create a ton of space for Brunson, Bridges and OG. Losing Divincenzo hurts, NY is still strong with wing D and have good options to play those minutes

Im not a fan Towns, but NY is a bigger threat to Boston than they were before the trade

Really sucks to see Donte Divicenzo go, but I really like this deal
I am with you here. Randle was okay but a little overrated imho. Losing Divincenzo sucked though. That said, great trade for the Knicks. Only concern I have is his rift with Thibodeau when Thibodeau was the HC of the Minnesota.

This is essentially what the Knicks are going to go to war with for the next few years. Dont have much flexibility to make more moves. They are highly competitive with the team that just won the title, so it shouldn't matter.

IMO this year is Boston, NY, OK and everyone else. On paper maybe Philadelphia. But I never buy into them

Big knicks fan hate to see the big ragu go but towns was the last piece needed to be a championship team.

Like you, I'm not a big fan of KAT, but think he should fit in well with the Knicks and should make what was a good team even more dangerous.

With the players around him in NY, there won't be as much pressure to shine. He could throw a dud up against Boston and NY still might have a chance to win. In Minnesota that wasn't the case.

Knicks are very hard to figure out.
I REALLY like the Miles Bridges move even if a massive overpay.
And OG is excellent.

But the KAT move seems desperate and really expensive. KAT is like your 4th best player but makes 50M a year and growing yearly for 4 more years.

Minny moved him to unload the salary not for Randle.

My lord why not just resign Hartenstein??

End of day Knicks are a really good team; but they seem to have taken an unforced error here in a panic.
KAT's woes include being hyper-sensitive and NYC is NOT the place for that.

Depth in NYC now feels nearly non-existent. NYC used up what was an excellent cap situation insanely fast.

Did not want to start another NBA thread but the Knicks so far have to be thrilled to get the big man Towns .

Has anyone else seen these articles on the “ crashing NBA TV ratings which Adam Silver the commish dismisses . Man cannot live on bread alone and a league can’t exist solely on gate receipts at the arenas .

I’ve said this about the NFL . Over exposure with too long a regular season schedule .
