What might shrivel you up quicker than taking a plunge into sub-freezing water with the local Polar Bear Club?

Walter Szulc Jr., in kayak at left, looks back at the dorsal fin of an approaching shark at Nauset Beach in Orleans, Mass. in Cape Cod on Saturday, July 7. An unidentified man in the foreground looks toward them. No injuries were reported. The previous week, a 12- to 15- foot great white shark was seen off Chatham in the first confirmed shark sighting of the season, according to a state researcher. Two more sightings were reported Tuesday, July 2, 2012. The same waters are filled with seals, which draw the sharks because they are a favorite food of the animal.

What came to my mind when I first saw the kayaker/shark picture: "You're gonna need a bigger boat." :laugh2:

I wonder how close to shore they are (haven't read the article fully). I'd be more worried if I were the guy in the foreground. He'd stand less of chance on that board.

That's true, LOL. He's looks totally focused... er, frozen... it appears. That'll just flat out get a guy's undivided attention. :D

Is that Hostile in the kayak? And is Walter Szulc Jr. just his kayaker pseudonym? Could've been just be a an adrenaline-raising outing.

Says he's been known to be a thrill seeker. :laugh2:

What can I tell you man? I was a thrill seeker for a long time and did a lot of cool things. I consider that a life experience and if I had ever made it to Spain for the Festival of San Fermin, I would have done that.

It probably still wouldn't be the craziest thing I ever did. I'd tell you what that is, but I know what happens when I tell stories here.

Reminds me of the old joke of the two guys running from a bear with one man saying we cannot out-run a bear.
The other guy replied:
" I don't have to out-run the bear, I only have to out-run you"!
:laugh2:

I know, old joke.

Mine has a permanent pucker. Never had my swimsuit sucked up into my throat by way of it, though.

I think that qualifies as TMI, pal... :D
Sorry. A little self-PR blurb gone awry. Been accused of having my head up my a** so often, I didn't want anyone to think it'd been stretched out of all functional proportion.

Amended report: the "aperture" is in working order. Better, or am I just digging deeper? :laugh2:
