Amari Cooper.......27 yrs old and had 5 seasons of over 1000 yards (when he was traded to Cleveland)............we got a 5th round pick.

Keenan Allen.............31 yrs old............... has 5 seasons of over 1000 yards..........traded for a 4th round pick

So, the Chargers got more for an older player in Allen than we got for Cooper despite almost identical production?

Man, you got to hand it to Jerry and Cap Boy, they sure know how to work trades, the league should fear them :flagwave:

They asked him about a pay cut. He said no thanks.
I can’t imagine that the player is happy about this.
He Refused a pay cut. sure he is happy to keep his salary
As Jagger sang...."You cant always get what you want"..... (first first draft had the added line) unless you employ France.
The moral of the story is.....dont overplay your hand or you may end up (up north) in the cold. We could use this theory with Dak and Minnesota, but we know in our 'negotiation' dynamic that Jerry's going to be played like a marionette.....and capitulate in the end.

Surprising at the timing of the trade. Going into the draft with a few big holes at WR.

I would keep Fields, trade down a couple of spots, pick up a couple of extra 1st-round picks, and draft Marvin Harrison. Watch Field stats go through the roof ........
I know. Allen would be WR3. But what do they do with Fields? Would you pay him 50M a year in 2 years? Or more.

First Mike Williams now Allen? Herbert probably visiting GM's office first thing tomorrow.
There's a good chance that a team is going to trade up with Arizona to pick up a QB. If and when that happens, you know what WR that leaves the Chargers, right?

Actually, we can’t. Little Enos let them add a no trade clause to the deal. He gave Dak and his agent all negotiating leverage.

Herbert-Keenan Allen was insane last year. That was there only positive to be honest. This is the one move I’m seeing that the Chargers fans really don’t like. Herbert must be upset.

Maybe Harbaugh wants to get a haul for Herbert and start over with JJ McCarthy :omg:
He said in part he took the job with the Chargers because of Herbert and he even said he was a little starstruck to meet him.

Not a chance in hell. Harbaugh came back to coaching and specifically this team, because they had a stud young QB. You think this was the first team that tried offering harbaugh a job? and it was nope, your qb sucks, nope, your qb sucks, nope, your qb sucks... yep, you got a young up and coming qb to latch onto.

No way, no how not even a thought they are looking past herbert.
