Nice, would love to see him as a Mav though. Durant is probably my favorite player in the NBA right now.

Love KD's game! He's representing this area (PG County, MD) proudly & I knew he was going to be good...but not this damn good! I remember seeing him play a few games with the area Boys & Girls clubs and he was clearly head & shoulders, skill-wise, above everyone on the floor!

Wish he'd come home and play for the Wizards.

smart move by the thunder. i like his game a lot.

He's pretty awesome. Can't believe he got snubbed for MVP. He played lights out from Game 1 to Game 82.

I might just become a Wiz fan if that happened...which we know is a pipe dream since he just signed an extension!

Where I live, I'm able to get Thunder games every Wednesday night on an obscure channel, so I watched every game last year. Durant is awesome. That whole team is, really -- a bunch of young, talented, good guys. Very easy team to root for.

It's funny, my buddies and I were always saying that you had to take him over Oden. Not that we were so smart or anything... I thought it was obvious that he would be far more valuable than just a big shot blocker.

After watching Durant and Oden in college, I was far and away more sold on Durant than Oden. Even if Durant couldn't bench 125lbs! :laugh2:

IMO you could easily see that Oden's offensive game wasn't going to project to the NBA. At absolute best, he was going to be like Ben Wallace which is a good thing; but no way I take Ben Wallace over an unstoppable scorer. Especially if that scorer has the agility to be a great defensive player too.

It's like asking, do I take Ben Wallace or Dirk in their prime. You want Ben, but you would be nuts to pass on Dirk.

Unless you're a Seattle SuperSonics fan. :(

I don't really have a team anymore. As a kid I used to listen to Spurs games on the radio during the early to mid 1970s, then became a Sonics fan when they were the worst team in the league, right before Lenny Wilkens took over. They rewarded their fans with a title two years later.

I love those guys on the Thunder roster -- Durant, Westbrook, Green, Collison, etc. But the owner of that team and his cohorts are liars and it was proven later they never intended to keep the team in Seattle. There's plenty of blame to go around (Seattle mayor, Washington legislature, Howard Schultz, David Stern, etc.), but Clay Bennett is a lying POS, and I can't bring myself to support anything he owns.

I still like the Spurs, but it's not the same. I've tried to like the Thunder, but I'm having a hard time because of their owner.

My favorite team picks my favorite player, then a year later ppphhhtttt. :banghead:

Oh, and regarding the Oden-Durant debate. Portland is stupid and gets what it deserves.

I don't think I know anyone who would have picked Oden over Durant.

Only the team that picked Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan could make this mistake .... again.

It's funny, I was having the same argument with friends of mine about Oden v. Durant.

My argument was that the NBA is so perimeter oriented these days that you have to take the dominant wing player over the big man who's only showed "potential".

Even if Oden remained healthy I don't see him being a dominant big man. I think he'd have been a 17 & 11 guy at best. Whereas I could immediately tell that Durant was going to be a 25 ppg scorer.

Thanks for the team. We're enjoying them. :wink2:

I think everyone pretty much knew Bennett was moving the team as soon as the sale was approved.

Sorry to hear that, Chief. That does stink.

And I'm not saying Seattle deserved it or anything, but still... Even if Bennett wanted to move the team, I don't think he could have if Seattle hadn't repeatedly refused to build them a new arena, could he? I remember reading that their arena was by far the lowest revenue generator in the league. But maybe I don't know the full story.

Anyway, I probably shouldn't admit this, but I was a Mavs fan going back to the Aguirre-Blackman days. But I've really soured on them the last few years because I can't stand Cuban. I guess I can identify with how longtime Cowboys felt, and still feel, about Jerry when he fired Landry. About the only reason I go for them at all anymore is that I'd like to see Dirk win something. But I don't think he ever will with the way Cuban runs that team.

I've almost become more of a Thunder fan now. I even went up to one of their playoff games against the Lakers a few months ago... Now that was fun. I would sound like a bandwagoner, except that I was watching every game I could and listening to them on the radio two seasons ago when they were a lottery team. :)

The funny part was people (Blazers fans) actually thinking that Oden was going to be a 20 & 10 guy.

You live in Oklahoma City? How do you feel about the city and region's market for a MLB team? I was discussing baseball re-alignment with a friend earlier today and we were talking about Oklahoma City and Charlotte being two prime locations that would benefit from getting a pro baseball franchise.

I doubt MLB would be successful in OKC. We'd probably have big crowds for the first year then after that it would look like a Royals game with 3/4th of the stadium empty.

We have a Triple A team, the Redhawks, they do alright on certain nights. But for the most part Oklahomans just don't get into baseball like we do football and basketball.

Well I know there will never be a pro football franchise there with OU and OSU running things.

Interesting. I would've thought with the CWS that they would find a good market for MLB.

Another thing to consider is the citizens would likely have to foot the bill for a new stadium.

The Bricktown Ballpark, where the Redhawks play, probably only holds 8,000 fans. I don't know if the people of OKC would be keen to the idea of building a new stadium.

The entire downtown area has recently been rebuilt in the last 10 years as part of the MAPS Program. They built the basketball arena, baseball stadium, Riverwalk area, Theaters, restaurants, etc.

Building a new 50,000 person stadium probably wouldn't go over well; especially in this economy.

Bricktown's awesome...good times there in summer of '07 when I was TDY to Fort Sill :)

They have one. The Texas Rangers. ;)
