This is the type of move Spurrier and Miles would do, so Sumlin is catching on quickly.

Sumlin on Florida, suspensions and QBs

Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin addressed several topics on Wednesday during the SEC coaches' teleconference.

• Among them were the suspensions of linebacker Steven Jenkins and safety Howard Matthews. Both were suspended for one game, as announced over the summer by Sumlin, for a violation of team rules. Early in fall training camp, Sumlin said the pair would be suspended for the first game. With the Aggies' season opener against Louisiana Tech, originally scheduled for Aug. 30, having been postponed to Oct. 13, Sumlin said both players will still serve their suspensions against Louisiana Tech.

"Steven Jenkins and Howard Matthews were suspended for the first game. As a matter of fact, last week, neither guy was involved in our preparation for Louisiana Tech and that'll remain the situation," Sumlin said. "As a matter of fact, Howard Matthews played scout team wide receiver last week. A lot of things have changed because of that since the storm and they will still be suspended for the Louisiana Tech game. That won't change."

This isnt an SEC thing, it's a major college football thing. Besides, Matthews isn't even on the two deep and Jenkins is a slightly above average MLB. Nothing to see here.

They'll need those guys against us. A&M will not beat La Tech.

Michigan coach Brady Hoke suspends RB Fitzgerald Toussaint and DE Frank Clark for Alabama game

Michigan coach Brady Hoke has suspended starting running back Fitzgerald Toussaint and reserve defensive end Frank Clark for Saturday night's opener against No. 2 Alabama.

Hoke made the announcement Friday, saying both players wouldn't make the trip to Texas.

Toussaint pleaded guilty Tuesday to drunken driving. Clark is accused of taking a laptop from a dorm room.

"The decision was not easy, but I feel it is in the best interest of this program and for these kids, and those always will be my priorities," Hoke said in a statement. "We have choices every day, and you have to be accountable to this program, your teammates, your family and the University of Michigan."
