KFC pays college women for ad space on buns

By Bruce Horovitz, USA TODAY
KFC wants folks to watch its backside.
Or, more precisely, the backsides of female college students it's recruiting to promote its hot new bunless Double Down sandwiches.

Women on college campuses are being paid $500 each to hand out coupons while wearing fitted sweatpants with "Double Down" in large letters across their rear ends.

Brand guru Jonathan Salem Baskin says there's nothing "inherently wrong" with using women to attract guys, but in this case, "It's irrelevant to the product." KFC would do better, he says, to follow the McDonald's model: "Clean up your stores, fix the menu and please people with the food you make."

One point of confusion, he jokes: "I guess the buns do come with KFC's sandwich."

Is this in the wrong forum? While mildly fascinating, it would not appear to belong here. Off-Topic Zone perhaps?

Marketing Genius I tell you.

While thoroughly impressed with this idea, I would feel remiss in my efforts if I did not include the obligatory, "This Thread Means Nothing Without Pictures."

Seriously though, this has to be some sort of punked thing. Check out these three goofs the girls are trying to talk to. This can not be real.

KFC could also do better to hire better employees. One time I went to the local KFC drive-thru, and it took them nearly an hour to get my food because I ordered it and they had to cook it from scratch. So I had to park out front and wait till he brought it out for me.

2nd time after that, I went again and they told me to hold on a minute at the drive-thru, and dude never came back on. So I sat there for 5 minutes waiting for him to come back and take my order. There and then I decided that that was it, and drove off. Never again.

One of my coworkers refuses to do the pull forward thing. He'll hold up the drive thru until the bring his food. :laugh2:

They really are pushing that double down thing hard.. wow. It's SOOOOO Terrible for you. I like foods that are horrible for me, but it's just a little too much. I'd much rather just have a chicken sandwhich with cheese and bacon.
