Looking at some of the late day 2, early day 3 receiver prospects. We know Kellen Moore recently attended Boise State pro day. The university in which he played with and has legitimate contacts inside their building.

Shakir offers a similar skill set as the departed Cedric Wilson who also played at the same school. He projects as a slot receiver who also offers special teams return abilities both with the punt and kick returns.

Boise State fan, so I watched all of his games. Love the kid. High character, great YAC guy, plays like a RB playing WR. Actually played RB for several snaps when the running game was stagnant and did a very good job. Would make a very nice #3 for Gallup and Lamb. CLUTCH! Made the big plays when BSU needed them, including some incredible circus catches. Not a true burner, but ran a 4.43, which makes him faster than Gallup, Wilson or Lamb.
If he is available in the 3rd, and we haven't picked a WR yet, I would be shocked if he isn't our guy.

Love him as a 3…prolly more of a slot guy in the NFL due to lack of length but plays bigger than his size and his fast and quick.

Thanks for the info! He makes a lot of sense if they decide not to address the receiver need within the top 2 rounds. Can fill that Wilson type of #3 role, along with supporting our special teams, which is important for a backup.

Is he just a slot receiver, can he play outside?

Think this is the best way to address the position. The need is to replace Cedric Wilson. Good slot receiver who offers return abilities.

For those that can remember him NFL has his comp as Antwaan Randle El

Overview
A coach's dream, combining competitive nature, exciting versatility and elite character on and off the field. For a short-armed player with average explosiveness, Shakir puts an emphatic stamp on games. He's more football player than prototypical slot receiver and needs to prove he can handle an increase in contested catches. He can be activated from a variety of alignments with the vision, wiggle and toughness to move the chains once the ball is in his hands. He finds a way to frequently show up on the notepad when watching tape and his will to outperform the guy across from him should not be overlooked. Shakir should become a valuable piece for a creative play-caller.
Strengths
  • High-character player.
  • Voracious competitive spirit and vastly versatile.
  • Receiver used on direct snaps, as a running back, on jets sweeps and in return game.
  • Motor rarely gives opponents a chance to catch their breath.
  • Laser-focused once the ball is snapped.
  • No down gear into the teeth of the defense as route-runner.
  • Low center of gravity for sudden route cuts/breaks.
  • Creates throwing windows with leverage, footwork and strength.
  • Concentration to make wild circus catches.
  • Relishes contact and can play through it.
  • Absolute menace with the ball in his hands.
  • Patient runner with vision and a foot hovering over the gas pedal.

He is probably best suited for the slot in the NFL, but he played all over for Boise and could do so in the NFL.

Wilson did also play exclusively in the slot. Believe Shakir is the better prospect at the same juncture as Wilson was more of a late day 3 player.

Seems to be a very good prospect for what this team really needs.

Looks better than Skyy Moore to me...

Shakir does have the shortest arms that I've ever seen for a draft prospect.

Is his nickname Tupac...(yes I know i not u).

He reminds me a lot of Kenny Stills.

I compare this need to linebacker: there is a future need for more of a role player then another star. Be a factor within the offense and upgrade our return units, would be a huge plus.

Wan’Dale Robinson has shorter arms by almost 2”.
