My complaint of Jones is that he continues to try to build a winning roster like the salary cap doesn't exist. He wants to have the most talented roster in the NFL. Since he can't just outspend everyone, he also invests in way too many high-risk reward players whether the risk is behavior, injury, or mental health. Paying for all that talent doesn't leave much money for quality backups, and it is made worse by Jones giving guys big contracts that he shouldn't.
At the beginning of the season we almost always look like Super Bowl contenders and then starters begin to fall out, whether its injury or suspension. The backup guys are too often marginal players who just can't hold their own.
We definitely have more HOF players than the Patriots have had in the last 25 years and yet no titles. And here we are again already in week 3. 3 guys off the OL is a lot, but our backups struggled a lot. Diggs out is tough -- I wonder how Quinn had to call the game differently because he couldn't leave Bland on an island by himself.
HOFers bring in revenue though, I'll give him that.
