Funny thing is before the game the Lakers were complaining about the Spurs resting their starters.

Guess they learned the hard way.

Lakers can't afford to rest their starters. They have to win if they want to keep the second seed.

Spurs are still fighting for home-court throughout ...... but some things are more important ..... especially with an old team.

This is why I consider Bynum a second tier player. The guy is always injured.

I agree. Even if the Bulls end up with the best record, I don't think they are viewed as the team in the East that will to make it to the Finals. Smart move on the Spurs part.

I think the key thing here is that the Western playoff series are likely to be much tougher, IMO, then the Eastern will be. The top 4 teams in the East are clearly the best IMO. In the West, any of those teams can beat anybody. Nobody wants to be in the 3, 4, 5 and 6 spots in the West because, depending on how it works out, The Lakers, Dallas, Oklahoma City, Denver and Portland are all tough outs. It's much more desirable to be playing New Orleans or Memphis. IE, it's much more important to be in the 1st or 2nd spot in the West then it is the East. If you slip to the 3rd or lower, you may not advance. Lakers have to play and win in order to prevent that. Right now, only 1 game sperates 2nd from 4th in the West.

Don't take the Grizzlies lightly. These aren't the same Grizzlies that have been swept out of the playoffs before.

I think they are much improved but I also think that I'd rather face them then Dallas, Denver, OK City or Portland.

Hopefully its just a hyper-extension and nothing more. They should be able to advance in the first round even without him. He should be good to go in round 2.

ya they might actually win 1 playoff game :D

in all seriousness they are better than before, but without gay, they are not that scary, i would rather play new orleans, but like ABQ said, they are both teams that you would rather face than the blazers or nuggets.

i dont know, if they get the 2 seed then they absolutely will win against either memphis or NO even without bynum, blake and possibly barnes. but if they lose tonight and the mavs win, i dont like their chances as much vs portland without bynum. the blazers are one of only a handful of teams that can match their size, plus they have the laker killer gerald wallace now, its mainly because of him that the bobcats had a winning record VS the lakers while he was there!

The Lakers could have dropped all the way to 4th seed--giving up home court advantage in both the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

The Finals are a long way off, so I think the Spurs did the right thing resting thier guys.
I also think LA did what they had to do as well.

I'll take one game as long as they are competitive in the others. :laugh2:

Idk, it's gonna be emotional and they have talent, if they come out in fire the lakers could be in trouble
