mike brown is a good coach, its a good signing imo, why do you guys think the cavs were so good defensively while he was the head coach? he was the defensive coordinator per se for the spurs for a long time. i think its a good hire, wont cost them as much as other coaching candidates and is the best defensive mind available. Plus shaw really had no shot with the way the year ended, i think they wanted to move as far away as possible from the previous coaching staff seeing as they failed to motivate the players

The problem is that Mike Brown is the worst offensive mind the game has ever seen. His offense consisted of giving the ball to the most gifted athlete in the history of the NBA and saying "Go", and it's why he flamed out so many times in the postseason. It will take about six games before Kobe becomes the defacto coach on the floor. The only difference this time will be that Kobe isnt nearly as effective of an iso player as Lebron is now that he is on the wrong side of 1,300 games played.

I forsee this being the most epic of fails.

its easier to find good offensive assistant coaches that defensive ones though, even the aforementioned brian shaw is not likely to get a head coaching job anywhere and could stay as an assistant. if not, there are others out there that would be great, PJ carlisemo comes to mind, he was a very big reason the spurs won all those titles.

Solid hire. Don't why anyone is laughing. Brown is a solid coach. The dude won 60+ games with a mediocre Cavs team twice and also won the East once. As a Laker fan I fully expect a bounceback season. 60+ wins and at least getting to the WCF.

Not so sure about that... talent-wise maybe, but there are definite problems with this Lakers team in regards to psyche...

Will be interesting to watch what happens...
