Added Dak's contract so you can see his is only $19.7M but goodness, I didn't realize it's nearly $50M next year.

It was high last year and this year too. They just restructured and pushed money forward. I don't believe they're going to push too much forward next year, which is why I believe they're saving cap space. Look for Dak to be a 35-40M cap hit next year. But who knows, they may absorb all of it if they can.

50 million?
Who you think you got Chelsey Clinton?

How much would making Dak a June 1st cut cost us? Because 50 million sounds crippling.

LOL, it's only crippling if you're looking to pay some high priced free agents. Dallas doesn't do that. He'll fit quite nicely under the cap.

It’s only crippling if you are trying to build a winner. Dallas doesn’t do that. He’ll fit nicely under the cap.

Fixed it

He ain't going nowhere, you can take that to the bank. Did you see the dead cap hit? They have two reasonable options( cap hit), eat it or restructure. I'm betting he gets an extension after this season.

An extension after this season would be the stupid thing to do, so I 100% see that being what the Cowboys do.

They will restructure this off season. We won’t take that hit.

Here's the thing, they won't need to restructure, so they won't. Why would you push 20-30M forward if you're only signing cheap free agents and your draft class? They might need to push 10-15, but no more.

Any extension Dak gets will probably come after the 2023 season. Jerry doesn't have to do it sooner, so he probably won't.

Even the dumbest fan knows he is going to get that 31M base restructured.
Its' just trolls talking in this thread which is the usual around here.
He is our starter and everyone needs to deal with it and be a fan. Or go find another team. We could have worse. Some think hurtz is going to be great. Lol.

I think a lot rides on this year. If he has a great year JJ may want to extend before the price goes up. Every year it’s going up. He missed the boat a while back. Waited to long if he was signing him anyways. When wentz got that deal the price started going up..

The reason I mentioned after 2023 is because 99% of extensions are given with one year left on your contract. Not counting 5th option players. Players aren't stupid either. It would better suit Dak to wait until after 2023 too.

Helman takes quite a leap here......I won't go that far but it's not a reach to say they're challenging him to take his game to another level. Bob Strum did an extensive article on how/why the time is now for Dak, no more excuses. I can't post the article ( obvious reasons ) but in a nutshell, he challenged Dak to take more control offense rather than relying on KM to find impact/explosive plays.

He should be ready. Romo took over the Offense at a certain point. Had plays on his list. Would over ride linehan at times. He should be able to take this Offense over when he needs to. He has seen about every look a defense can throw at him. He has to trust his arm and let it go..
