According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Cardinals are set to sign Larry Fitzgerald to an eight-year, $120 million contract extension that includes close to $50 million guaranteed.
Apparently Fitzgerald is comfortable with new quarterback Kevin Kolb. The guaranteed money is the most ever given to a non-quarterback, and makes Fitzgerald the league's highest-paid receiver. Arguably the game's most physically gifted player, Fitzgerald illustrated just how dominant he truly is in 2010 by putting up his usual ridiculous numbers (90 catches, 1,137 yards and six touchdowns) despite having turnover-machine Derek Anderson and rookie John Skelton throwing him the ball. Still 11 days shy of his 28th birthday, it's not outside the realm of possibility he could remain elite for the duration of his new deal.

Larry Fitzgerald's 8yr deal with Cards would be worth a max of $120M; as a practical matter he will make $75M in the 1st 4 new yrs of deal..

Which averages out to an average of $17M per season. Its a massive commitment from the Cards, and includes toughly $47M in guaranteed money

The Fitzgerald deal is not complete or official, but the primary terms of the contract have been agreed to

Wow. Congrats to him.

Too much for a WR (and he is a great one). Thats top tier QB money.

makes what Nmadi got look like Chump change. And is Fitz considered like the #2 overall WR anymore? Andre Johnston as I recall seems to be #1.

They must have some gooooood herbs in Arizona. no way i would do that. I would rather have 4 top notch players for that money. put the pipe down and step away

17 million a year for one player? That doesnt touch the football on every play? Insane.

Larry is a great player. One of the best WR in football right now, but there is no way any WR is worth that much. I don't think even a pass rusher is worth that much. At absolute best a QB, but I would even question that with today cap.

btw, Jason La Canfora must be inept at math as $75M / 4 = $18.75M not $17M.

If Larry had a QB to throw to him, he would be the #1 WR. The guy runs such precise routes and doesnt drop a ball that touches his fingertips.

I think he will have a pretty damn good season with Kolb this year.

Arizone continues to make bad decisions...overpayed for Kolb and now giving one of the best WR in the game QB franchise money?

Insane

Not surprising WRs getting paid more. CBs getting paid to cover the WRs. WRs should get paid when beating these CBs.
