second time I've seen us linked to him.
here's our 7th round pick.
Knowing us, we'll draft him in the 4th.
Harris only weighed 222 at the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl which was Jan 19.
He weighed 238 at this Pro Day.
He probably didn't run very well after gaining 16 pounds in a few weeks.
In game footage he looked smooth in coverage with a good back-peddle and can easily flip his hips to turn an run.
In run defense he sometimes looked great with many hits and tackles in the offensive backfield but on other snaps he looked horrible on some missed tackles. The missed tackles might be been from trying to do too much. His DLine often didn't keep blockers off of him.
I wonder if the Cowboys are considering having him keep his weight down and using him at Strong Safety; although, the LB coach Bloom was the one that worked him out.
Report by KC media referencing the 2019 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl
Darius Harris has an argument for being the top standout during the week of practice and also the game. Come game day, Harris torched the defensive competition, recording 13 total tackles (including 10 solo). His play recognition, quickness, and tackling prowess was on full display as Harris was flying to the football for the National team. It’s no shock to me that the American team didn’t have a rusher exceed 40 yards with Harris in the game.
Harris has better height (6-foot-3), arm length (34 inch), and hand size (9 3/4 inch) than most linebackers in the 2019 draft class. The only thing he’s lacking is a little bulk as he’s only 222 pounds right now. Harris projects as a SAM or WILL linebacker in the NFL, and that makes him a fit in the Chiefs’ new 4-3 scheme. Currently Harris’ plan is to get up to 235 pounds for his pro day, and he’s working with EXOS to reach that goal.
