Texas Tech has an unfathomably awful athletic department. They literally arent good at ANYTHING these days.

They finished in the 40s in three of the last four years, but this performance is pretty bad. They will get a boost from spring sports with the men's and women's golf and tennis teams playing in the postseason but it is still a terrible year for their program.

BTW, these are not the final rankings. They still have all the Spring Sports.

Never really been a fan of the Director's Cup anyway. Stanford wins it every single year and aside from their recent run in football with Luck they do it by being really good in a ton of sports that nobody gives a **** about.

IMO, they should have a seperate ranking based solely on football, men's basketball and baseball.

Or at least weigh them differently based on national fan interest and how many teams are actually fielded. I mean, hardly anyone has a water polo team...good grief.

When an NCAA hoops title (men or women's) counts the same as a women's cross country or water polo title, you know there is a flaw.

I mean at the very least it should be a 10 to 1 ratio
Something like
50 for football or basketball
25 for baseball or softball
20 for soccer
15 for track
10 for tennis, hockey, lacross
5 for cross country , water polo, frisbee or whatever...lol

After Stanford though, you really do have the usual suspects. Stanford just wins because the field teams in everything and they don't really suck in anything.

FWIW, it does look like A&M (for example) is focusing more on the overall program--that's a big jump in the last 5 years.
