Ok-- my fellow Dallas fans, we really need to be honest here.
Yes, we are ALL upset with how the Cowboys performed Sunday.
But was this team REALLY a Superbowl caliber team? Answer: No
Why did so many Dallas fans AGAIN-- buy its this? Answer: The media and Jerry Jones was selling it.
But lets take a look:
Offensive Line:
The Cowboys had (2) All-Pro Lineman : Tyler Smith and Zack Martin --both guards and a 2nd team All-Pro in LT Tyron Smith.
And why were they given this award/title? Really? This Dallas team struggled ALL season long to run the ball.
In the playoff game, Dak was running for his life and was sacked 4 times. You would believe with a team "so-called" loaded with talent on the OL, this team should be able to run the damn ball and never could do it.
Wide Receivers:
Outside of Lamb who had a great season, Cook was "ok" as a #2. But every season, for the past 4 season, his stats have kept going down
Cook was more of a #3. Which takes us to Gallup, who played Casper the ghost majority of the season. Majority of Cowboy fans see him gone next season. When opposing teams doubled Lamb, as GB and SF did, the passing game struggled. And then add the poor running attack and it was a receipt for trouble. Tolbert had a few moments but not enough to get any Dallas fans excited about the future
Tight Ends:
Ferguson is making nice strides. And replaced Dalton Schultz. The others are like Gallup---invisible.
Running Back:
Pollard barely got a 1,000 yards. And this is with the so-called OL with 2 ALL-Pros. Teams needs a bigger back is the OL can't open holes.
Rico was adequate as a backup and who knows if Deuce makes the team next season
Quarterback;
Dak is a huge head scratcher. If you don't extend him, then the team literally has to cut many players to get under the cap.
And if you don't, the 2024 is going to be a rough season and then you blow up the team if he isn't extend.
Defensive Line:
Another season and again we say, this team struggles stopping the run. We are a finese team and when a wants to punch the Cowboys in the mouth, it is easy. And it again showed as Green Bay ran it down the throat. This team is so soft. They care about making sacks because that leads to stats and contract talks. This team hates doing the nitty gritty stuff. Drafted Trystan Hill and Mazi to stop the run and both are utter failures. Parson needs to believe that he can't be stopped and play like it each game.
Linebacker:
Sorry, I have never been a LVE fan. He guesses to stop the run and more time than not, guess wrong. This franchise has NOT had a THUMPER @ MLB since Ken Norton, jr. Need a MLB that will be physical and the QB on the defense. You can not have undersize safeties trying to fill the holes at LB. The opposing OL see the undersize LB the Cowboys had this season and pushed them 10 yards down field.
Cornerback:
Diggs will struggle after his ACL injury. Teams can throw on Diggs because, like Bland, they are seek the INTs, but do give up quite a bit of yard. Not expecting Gilmore back because he will want too much cash.
Safeties:
Horrible job vs GB. Big F for this crew.
Sorry, but I never believed this team would get to a NFC Conference game because TALK is cheap and until this franchise PROVES it ON THE FIELD, I will never buy into the FOOLS GOLD/PYRITE the media and Jerry sells each season.
