...we still have glaring needs at RT, FS, and WR.

-I sure would like to see if a trade could be worked out for WR Doug Gabriel of Oakland. With the logjam at receiver for the Raiders, he is at best a 4th option, behind Porter, Moss and Curry. Gabriel would make an excellent 3rd down compliment, and he has more speed than Crayton. I just wish we could get this guy on the team.

-Could Ross Verba at RT be on Jones's & Parcells's radar?

-Does anyone think that the Vikings will release FS Corey Fuller? I would consider trading Morgan to the Vikings for Fuller.

I don't see us making any trades of any draft picks beyond the 2nd day picks, and probably not even those.

We'll survive with what we've got this year unless a FS pops up...I"m certain we're not going to make any WR moves, and I seriously doubt that we'll find the type of starting RT we want outside of our own team at this point.

It's like last year with the RCB spot...it's wayyyyyy too late now unless you want to seriously overpay....I don't.

With the exception of Verba, I'm not sure you could consider Gabriel or Fuller "too pricey" at this point. We're not talking allstar-type players - just very good ones if put in the right position.

I don't think Parcells would even consider Verba. He's a headcase, and in case nobody noticed, those are the guys Parcells has been getting rid of.

Between Witten, Glenn, Johnson, and Copper/Crayton/Morgan I think we wont be that bad at WR. WR is a need, but think of it this way, we will see alot of 8 men fronts with Jones this year. Glenn will get open deep if he's covered 1 on 1. He's very quick in and out of his cuts, and he has great hands. He gets open. Just stay healthy Terry

glad you mentioned copper. is he a third stringer now? or is he injured? i haven't heard anything regarding copper and last year he was on par with crayton at some point in time

I would not be suprised if Dallas makes a move for a RT and in my opinion I think Verba would be a good fit espeically when you consider he would be working next to Rivera who he has played with before.
As for FS I think Dallas will settle for what they have and WR I was sold on Crayton and the end of last season and he is currently having a very good camp, I'm more than willing to get him into the lineup along with Key,Glenn and Witten

Copper is probably 4/5th right now, from what I assume. Glenn and Johnson are 1 and 2. Crayton/Morgan are 3/4 and then Copper Crowder and Merrit slide in. Id think Copper is ahead of those 2 though.

Let's give Pettiti a chance here. He has the physical tools, he's got his weight down, and he may make the switch to RT. Imagine it as having to switch hands when writing, you can learn it, but it takes a little while. He will prolly start the next game. Too bad he wont be going up against Wistrom. That would be a good test.

I like Petti but I'd be a bit more comfortable heading into the season with a bit of insurance at RT because other than the rookie we don't have much behind him

i agree with you. Tucker and Vollers are servicable. But they dont help me rest easy at night either. Besides Verba, what are our realistc options though?

Terry who was in Seattle would be one and I have seen a couple of other vet who were released due as cap casulties. Vollers I think may be worth keeping

you probably won't get a r.t. in here such as Verba untill after opening day.Parcells has already hinted as such.

If that ends up being the case your looking at 2 to 3 weeks after that player signs before he will be ready to play. I would hope if we are going to bring in a guy like Verba we would do so within a week or 2 to allow him time to get ready

So how does one know Gabriel is faster than Crayton. Speed isn't always the determining factor in a WR. Irvin wasn't the fastest guy in the WR department but he ran good routes and used his frame to an advantage. Read defenses like a dime store novel. Gee......kinda like Crayton. I agree with most and am pretty comfortable with the WR pups currently on the roster. We need to give them a chance. I was glad to see someone mention Copper. He could replace Key J. in the future.
JMO of course.

I really doubt they want to get rid of Gabriel...I think they like him a great deal.

The reason for doing it after opening day has to do with gauranteed salary for a veteran in some way.Someone who knows more about that can possibly explain it better for us.

I would go with Crayton as well. From the reports I was hearing, he runs excellent routes and has incredible hands.
And with a QB like Bledsoe who relies on arm strength, a good route runner is key.

RT - maybe lets see
FS - not a glaring need.
WR - no additions via draft, free agent or trade (BP must not agree)

I'm just not in panic mode of those spots. We have people in each that can cover us. New England doesn't have pro bowl players at each position. We didn't either when we won super bowls.
