It always comes down to a few small things that make the difference. Sometimes these things are outside of your control. The ball bounces the wrong way. The other team makes a good play. These things you can live with. For me it is the small things that are fully within your control that matter the most. Small things that for whatever reason seem to pile up on us at the end of games like this. I am going to list a couple that for whatever reason stood out to me. Perhaps some of you out there have others that you can add:

1. The second to last possession when the Eagles player jumps off sides and we just stand around clueless and wait for the whistle. We should definitely be at a point where we get excited, snap the ball, and take advantage of the free play. After watching Aaron Rodgers do something to you over and over you would think that you would learn it eventually.

2. People will say Turpin had a great game and he did have some good moments but letting the final punt hit the ground was inexcusable. It shows complete and utter lack of situational awareness. We really needed him to make something happen and he acted as though it was the middle of the first quarter.

I agree. But, wondering if the ST coach instructed him not to field the punt. Who knows...sometimes we blame the players when we should be putting the blame on the coaches.

First I can not possibly imagine anyone told him not to field it as that would be insane. Second he is the punt returner. He had a chance to make a play that would be remember forever. The game is on the line. Do whatever it takes. Just get the job done. It was just another example of a missed opportunity that IMHO was completely within our control. Go for it. Sure you may screw it up but at least then you can say you gave it your all.

46 seconds, 0 timeouts, and you want the returner to eat up precious time to gain 5-10 yards most likely?

Instead we gained 35 yards from the next play on a PI and stopped the clock.

Is this really the thinking? This seems crazy to me. A punt return seems like the most efficient possibly play in terms of yards gained per time consumed and the clock automatically stops after the play is over. Plus it has massive big play potential. You would prefer to give up an uncontested 55 yard punt then try to gain the yards back against a set defense with no time outs? This just does not feel right to me. And please don't use the pass interference as justification for the decision. The two have nothing to do with each other. You could have returned it for 15 yards in 6 seconds and still get the PI call and be 15 yards closer.
