Carole King got the Gershwin Prize, yesterday, presented at her White House concert for the event. I was joking on twitter with her (not really joking :D ) to get them to let me in, as I work like only ten minutes away from the WH ...umm, not much in the way of reply lol :)

Obama honors Carole King at White House concert

The President presented King with this year's Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, an award given by the Library of Congress. She is the first woman so honored and joins a list of recipients that includes Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon.

...LOVE Carole King! So happy for her, and this was WELL deserved!

Love Carole King. King and Gillian Welch are my two favorite female voices. Janis rates higher than both of them, but I won't pretend she had a good voice.

Not to get political, but I wish the White House and Congress would stay away from the entertainment sectors. They have no business handing out awards, etc..

The Library of Congress is NOT "Congress" and it most certainly is their business to hand out awards.

Is it a government entity? Then no it is not their business.

I know that the LOC is and why it was established, and it was not to hand out entertainment awards; that's Hollywood's realm.

You and ChldsPlay have no idea, obviously.

Way to crap on a perfectly innocent thread trying to congratulate a wonderful performer.

Just wow.

THIS is why CZ can't have nice things.

LOL, I'm sure Ms. King will forgive me.
