I'm excited to see him with the Horns. I saw the Cibolo Steele vs Denton Guyer for Texas 5A championship game and really came away impressed with Brown

He is really good. It's too bad that he hurt his ankle on like the first day of practice and will be limited throughout fall camp, it might set his learning curve back a few weeks.

That being said, the best RB to come out of Texas this year is Brandon Williams who signed with OU. He looks like a bigger version of Chris Johnson on film, legit sub-4.3 speed.

Guess that is a matter of opinion since Brown was rated the top high school RB in the nation

Every recruit TU signs looks good on youtube. The question is can they actually play when they get to campus and will they be happy battling 4 other 5 star recruits for playing time.

Is this kid more Simms or Applewhite?

I actually looked quite good as a high schooler in my own highlight tapes. Amazing how good one can look when splicing together only the best plays.

Brown was rated higher because he has been on the recruiting map since he was in eigth grade and is a more "traditional" back. Williams was a late bloomer, but his film is just unreal. It looks like Bo Jackson on the old Tecmo Superbowl game, just running circles around entire defenses.

Looks like we're going back to SWC Football. This kid is a down hill runner. He will not be able to run over everybody at the next level like he does there but he will be an effective back IMO. He never stops moving his feet and he has pretty darn good balance for a man as big as he is.

Wait till Gray arrives. These two are going to be a potent backfield.

Their potency will be determined by whether or not Texas can get their offensive line woes in order. Last year after viewing several of their practices, HOFer Bruce Matthews called their practice drills and technique "a joke" and said he'd never let his son play for such poor offensive line coaching. Turns out he was right, Texas' line was dreadful last year despite four and five star talent all across it.

well if that helped get the Oline coach fired then thank you Bruce Matthews.

Texas will have a much improved OL this year, if only because they are no longer running the same kind of offense. Last year, I got the feeling they were in a transitional period where this was concerned. This year, they have a new OC and a new OL coach and they have more talent coming in. If they manage to get Peat, even more strong talent. I think Texas is going to be OK.

nothing is more important than the new strength guy, we had become a team of soft pansies.

Yawn. Yeah, and Garrett Gilbert was supposed to have already won 2 Heismans by now. I hear about how awesome recruits are supposed to be every year, but the top ones rarely turn out to be the top players in college ball.

so Gilbert was supposed to win a Heisman standing on the sidelines watching McCoy?

funny quote by Manny Diaz:
On installing a new defense: Well, the first thing you have to do on defense is get lined up. We’ve got our freshman trying to learn our defense while our offense has tight ends coming out of helicopters and secret holes in the ground.
