First thought for me was O.D. due to age and profession, hopefully it’s less sinister than that.

I’ve seen it a few times, players have an unknown heart condition that the stress of playing pro sports brings out......from strenuous exercise, travel and the heat brings out.

I hope it wasn’t an overdose but always a possibility.

I’ve got no insight into this but since we are all speculating anyway I will say depression is a real SOB and claims way more folks of all ages and income levels than drugs do.

I wonder if he picked up some kind of disease...LA is just about to explode because it's so filthy w/ homeless people. There has been all kind of outbreaks recently...and gov't officials are trying to keep it all hush hush. Word on the street...people fear the plague is about to hit.

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs died Monday at the age of 27, stunning the baseball world and leading to the postponement of the team's game against the Texas Rangers.

Police responded to a report of an unconscious man in a hotel room in Southlake, Texas, and pronounced Skaggs dead at the scene. No foul play is suspected, and an investigation is ongoing, police said.

A Southlake police spokesperson said it "is not suspected" that Skaggs took his own life, according to the Los Angeles Times.

"It is with great sorrow that we report Tyler Skaggs passed away earlier today in Texas," an Angels statement said. "Tyler has, and always will be, an important part of the Angels Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family during this devastating time."

A photo of Angels players wearing cowboy hats by their plane was posted on Skaggs' Instagram account Sunday, with the pitcher writing "Howdy y'all'' and making a reference to the team's road trip to Texas. The Angels are scheduled to go to Houston for a three-game series this weekend after playing the Rangers.

Well they’ve just recently ruled out suicide as well as earlier reported foul play.

I just have the accidental overdose feeling on this one.

Not really, I think the family wants to wait until the season is over to release cause of death which is understandable
that's different, I thought they wouldn't be able to figure out the cause of death until October.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner told reporters it would begin its autopsy on Skaggs on Tuesday, but it wouldn’t be completed until October. According to USA Today, Skaggs’ family requested the medical examiner withhold the autopsy information until then.

He went to high school with my daughter and she recently saw him at another friend's wedding. He was a really good kid. Played basketball and was obviously a dominant baseball player. His mother was the high school softball head coach. I feel awful for his family. My daughter is shook that someone she knew (and someone her age) could pass like this.

It would seem strange to do this if it was of natural causes. I’m thinking pain pills, or sleeping pills, benzodiazepines etc... Totally accidental it happens all the time.
