The bill introduced last year to prevent advertisers from jacking up the volume on their commercials to get viewers attention is about to come to fruition.

The bill passed the Senate in October and has now been passed in the House as well. All that is left is to have the president sign it into law. (and he will!)

Good...that is so darn annoying.

Some years back when we got our TV it was supposed to have an option to keep the volume level no matter which channel you turned to or if a commercial came on that was louder...but of course it did not work.

Magnavox?

I remember some years back, Magnavox was making that claim on their commercials.

We have this option on our TV but it doesn't work because we use a surround sound system instead of the actual tv sound. Glad this finally passed, though.

I am so annoyed by loud tv.

I thought that was already illegal as deemed so by the FCC? No?

It is annoying and the wife swore it was the TV. Seriously.

Anything that effects the marketing industry negatively is a good thing.

Either way though, the only thing I watch live on TV is football, everything else is DVR'd and I fast forward through commercials. Even during football, commercials is when I go pee, get another beverage, or go hop on the computer to check fantasy out.

No because we constantly have to turn down the volume during commercials. This is why I love Tivo because after I record a show, I just ff through the commercials. I only have to deal with the commercials during live taping, like when we watch the Cowboys/NFL team.

Probably the most productive thing the government has done for the people in a long, long time.

Marketing and Advertising are not the same thing. ;)

Audio range/dynamic range: Narrow.

It works, but it doesn't help much when the commercials are that loud.

GOOD! im soooo glad.... it is so iritating that u hav to turn down vol when that haps

Good to hear, it is so annoying when commercials are 10x louder then the TV shows you are trying to watch.

Amen to that.

Cosign.

Seriously though, more of you should have grown up working in a steel fabrication shop. Loud noises are pretty much the only ones you still hear. ;)
