While using the mock draft simulator at Pro Football Network, the Cowboys were offered an interesting trade when going on the clock at Pick 26 in the first round. The New Orleans Saints offered the 29th pick and their fourth-round pick (No. 115 overall) in exchange for Pick 26.

The best players available at the time were Clemson DE Myles Murphy, Notre Dame TE Michael Mayer, Clemson LB Trenton Simpson, Iowa State DE Will McDonald, Utah TE Dalton Kincaid, Pittsburgh DT Calijah Kancey, Boston College WR Zay Flowers, Tennessee WR Jalin Hyatt, Georgia TE Darnell Washington, Florida OG O’Cyrus Torrence, Arkansas LB Drew Sanders, Michigan DT Mazi Smith, Mississippi State CB Emmanuel Forbes and Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs.

With so much talent still available, we accepted the trade. Murphy, Simpson and Kancey were the next three picks.

1(29) Michael Mayer TE Notre Dame
2(58) Keion White DE Georgia Tech
3(90) Darius Rush CB South Carolina
4(115) Zach Evans RB Mississippi
4(129) Anthony Bradford G LSU
5(169) Jaquelin Roy DT LSU
6(212) Max Duggan QB TCU
7(244) Jake Moody K Michigan

Ehhhh, I am not a fan of a TE at 26. White at 58 is great. I like Evans in the 4th. Bradford in the 4th is also a nice pick.

While not liking Mayer at 29, he's likely to at least be decent even as a rookie, so overall not a bad draft.

That would be dream come true. I'd LOVE to see a trade like that happen.

The wait from 90 to 129 is going to be a long one. Having an extra pick between those selections would be awesome.

So many good players will get taken waiting on the 129 pick. Or use that extra pick to move up if someone is dropping.

cool with the trade, but I'm not taking Mayer over Torrence, Flowers, Hyatt, Gibbs or Forbes.

Hyatt is a non starter for me in the first. He's going to have a limited impact as a rookie as one, he's raw, two, he's not taking snaps from the top three unless there is an injury. Frankly, I am not sure he'd even be able to wrestle snaps from Tolbert, another raw WR who at least has a full year of NFL coaching under his belt.

I get people like him because he runs fast, but in Dallas' roster building world, my first round pick has to play and play a lot early. So Mayer, Torrance, and Gibbs (and I am loathe to use a first round pick on a TB) make way more sense to me than Hyatt.

Mayer at 26 is a bad pick IMO but rest of the draft looks solid. I’d be surprised if we don’t take a WR though.
