I'm a Suns fan and even though J -Rich was playing excellent for us, I LOVE this deal. Turkoglu sucked for us, glad he's gone.

Gortat will/should take over starting center right away and I love the fact that he is a mobile center, Nash (once he comes back) will love that. Both Gortat & Pietrus know how to play defense, something most of the Suns don't know how to do so hopefully their defensive aggressiveness will wear off on the other players.

Vince will only be here the rest of the year but he will attract fans and provide Nash some more offensive power.

Plus we get a 1st rounder and $3 million, thanks Magic! :)

I bet you freaked when Nash got busted up. Turkey-Glue sucks, and Vince I've hated since the beginning of time. He has all the talent in the world, yet is a lazy freaking bum unless it will get him face time. Even then, sometimes it's not enough. Vince SUCKS. Not sure why anyone would sign, or trade for the biggest bum in the NBA.

as long as dwight howard is still there, the magic will be fine.

Definitely is a great deal for them, Gilbert Arenas is huge for them because Rashard Lewis actually seems to pull a disappearing act in games, esp. playoff time. Also getting JRich and Turkoglu is big aswell, turk has his biggest years with Orlando, and JRich will be a huge boost off the bench unless they move Nelson to the bench and allow Gilbert and JRich to play the guard spots, they had to make this move to stay relevant in the East.

True, but who back him up? Or will he play 38-40+ minutes every game?

Any deal that gets rid of Vince Carter is a good one.

I think they blew it by trading Rashard Lewis though - that was their strong point when they had Lewis and Turkoglu - length and ability to run the floor with three guys starting basically at 7 feet tall when you add Howard. And Howard has a baby jumper now...

But I think they'll be okay. J-Rich and a little Arenas will definitely give them more on defense than Lewis would have. And the Wizards got a little better acquiring Rashard Lewis and with addition by subtraction getting rid of Gilbert. Now if they'll just get rid of Andray Blatche...

That was a little freaky. Nash is one of the toughest guys in the NBA and it was especially odd to see him stay down after that collision.

Without Nash, our team won't be competitive. Dragic is a very solid backup but is more of a scoring PG, Nash is the team. I know we don't have a shot at winning it all this year but this trade, in the long run helps us out quite a bit I think. I really like Gortat and Pietrus.

Losing Pietrus is the move that will hurt Orlando.

I actually think the Suns came out better on this deal.

I think it was a salary dump for PHX which is sad. Nash is still a top 6 PG and hes not going to have a last hurrah unless he is dealt

They picked up a big man, VC, and Pietrus..

I don't see how Phoenix didn't improve.

Pietrus is a good player and makes it rain from 3 in the Summer.

Vince is more of a distributor than a scorer so he will be irrelevant w/ Nash.

Gortat isnt as good as Robin Lopez

This was all about getting players that could create instead of the ones currently standing around hoping Dwight will win the game for them. As a Magic fan, I'm not 100% sure how to feel about these trades at the moment, but I guess I am happy. Outside of Gortat, every player Orlando moved was more of a hindrance than a help and they would not make it far in the postseason with that group.

Players Leaving:

Gortat: I wish him well, he played hard and will be a big hole to fill against teams like Boston. Phoenix will be happy with Gortat and this will come back to haunt Orlando unless they can make another trade for a Big.

Rashard: Great move for both teams. Unfortunately, Lewis was about to go to the bench. He has been in a slump all season and is playing the worst basketball of his career. I wish him the best because he does try hard.

Pietrus: From a playing time perspective, no big loss because he was buried on bench. His shots have been too spotty this season. He was in Stan Van Gundy's dog house after a few spats with him about playing time and his agent was seeking a trade for him. His defense will be missed come playoff time. He will do well in Phoenix's system because he can feed off of Nash in that system. Nash is the best ball distributor I've ever seen outside of maybe Magic Johnson.

Vince Carter: Good Riddance. He was a horrific failure. Big stats against sub-par teams, only to come up very small in the biggest situations. His "addition" killed Orlando in the playoffs last season. Very frail psyche. He might be better in Phoenix with Nash feeding him the ball, but you had better hope he is not the "go to" option come playoff time. He almost single handedly lost the series against Boston last season. There have been rumors that Stan wanted to bench him for JJ Reddick, but he knew it would absolutely wreck Vince.

Players Coming:
Turk: Good move for the Magic and Hedo. It is obvious that Turk is a better player in Stan Van Gundy's system. He was average before and after his time in Orlando. He flourished at the point forward position when he was with Orlando, plus he took/made big shots. He had a great rapport with Dwight. Jameer is not a good "natural" point guard in that he is much better at shooting than distributing. Turk helps two positions, plus his defense isn't any worse than Rashard's.

JRich: I can't express enough how much better he will be than Vince. Getting nothing would be better than Vince. Vince has hollow stats. He was not good at being a second fiddle, couldn't consistently create his own shot (what he was brought in for) and he was timid with the game on the line. JRich is an upgrade over Vince Carter in every aspect.

Gilbert: I assume he will be the sixth man since he needs the ball in his hands to be effective and Stan has already stated that Jameer is still the starter at the PG spot. I'm a little on the fence with this one, but it is good to have a player that can create his own shot off the bench. We don't have someone like that now. It will help free up JJ Reddick for shots when the second unit is on the floor.

Stan Van Gundy has his work cut out for him, but I really suspect that the Phoenix trade was all about him. He wanted Hedo back and Vince/Pietrus gone. If they don't get a Big by trading deadline this whole thing could blow up in their faces, though.

I've always felt Turk was overrated though, I wan't surprised at all he was a flop after he left the best young center in the game.

I 100% agree that Turk is overrated. He needs Dwight and Van Gundy's system to max his skill-set. Otherwise he has proven to be a JAG (rich JAG though).

Suns' fan here, too & I agree 1000%!! I'm so glad we were able to get from under the Turkoglu Experiment early!! Good move by the Suns' f/o (can't remember the last time I've said that!) being as they got rid of Hedo's contract, picked up a 1st rounder, got a much needed big man, and have some potential trade bait if they wanna make more moves by the trade deadline!

They still can't beat the Lakers or Celtics so it doesn't really matter. Dwight will bolt to LA or New York in 2012.

I wish, but I highly doubt it. Although, a lineup of Felton, Fields, Carmelo, Amar'e, and Dwight would probably dominate the East, it's a pipedream. I really think he goes to LA or Cuban moves around some money and signs with Howard to the Mavs.
