Maybe have both kickers active and have them both kick 10 into the practice net the one closer to down the middle gets to kick the XP or FGI am not here to diagnose Maher's problems, but it did look like the yips Monday night. Golfers with the yips do not have problems putting on the practice green. The problem arises when the stroke goes on the scorecard. So if it is the yips, I am not surprised Maher was 6 for 6 in practice. Maybe if they threatened him with being cut before every kick and he made them all that would be something.
he has not shown any streakiness until the last game.A kicker should have been kept on the Practice squad...You know Maher is streaky.

What happened was they got it in his head that the grass was a problem. They had issues there last year and is said to be one of the worst fields in the league.I am not here to diagnose Maher's problems, but it did look like the yips Monday night. That is total bs.A kicker should have been kept on the Practice squad...You know Maher is streaky.

Yup. I said same thing the other day. He got caught in a cycle of bad overcorrections. I'm sure he's got it figured out now. Golfers can work with sports psychologists for years to get rid of the yips, depending on how bad it is. Chuck Knoblauch and Steve Sax lived with the problem for a long time. Knoblauch never beat it. The Yankee had to move him from 2nd base to outfield and he claims it ended his career. It is a crazy phenomena in the human brain. I feel awful for guys dealing with the problem.Maybe have both kickers active and have them both kick 10 into the practice net the one closer to down the middle gets to kick the XP or FG
Rick Ankiel had the same problem with the Cardinals, went from ROY contender as a pitcher and 4 years later could not find home plateGolfers can work with sports psychologists for years to get rid of the yips, depending on how bad it is. All he has to do or any player is to read this place. Since many think they have everything figured out, and know everything.I'd be more impressed if they showed him meeting with a sports psychologist
He missed two kicks before the blade of grass controversy. I don't see how a blade of grass is a foreign object, but I guess what they meant is not visual aids. Seems to me he can always find another mark on the turf to use.I wonder if the NFL's crackdown on foreign object as kicking aids had anything to do with it. Apparently, Maher's holder would place a white blade of grass down as a target marker for Maher and the Refs disallowed that.

and for Golfers the only way to get rid of the yips is by going out to the driving range and hitting balls. Maher has been staying late and has continued to work on his kicks that according to McCarthy. No one wants to go into a game with this hanging over their heads but at least he is out there working to resolve it.I am not here to diagnose Maher's problems, but it did look like the yips Monday night.
