Main Reason Dallas-Indy Game was so Weird

Dallas scored 8 TDs (!) yesterday. But you look at the stat sheet and Dak "only" threw for 170 yards. Cowboys"only" had 385 in total offense. Game stats were kinda close, in fact. How does it make sense?

For much of the night the Doomsday defense was shortening the field like crazy. Dallas offense was able to enjoy the following short or 0-yard TD drives:

Dallas TD drives (4 of 8)
-26 yards
-Fumble Return TD, no offensive drive
-53 yards
-29 yards

Turnovers so huge, of course. Cowboys didn't need to pile up yards, and circumstances in fact didn't allow. The other reason we disproportionately blew the Colts out? Cowboys scored all TDs...we didn't settle for field goals.

There were some other "weirdness" issues going on last night. Might explore in later posts.

Don't forget that the defense had one of those TDs.

The Game of Football is a living being that nobody can predict it's lifeline, no matter how they try.
Sometimes it goes accordingly to predicts.
Sometimes it goes awry.
Sometimes it goes completely butt-crazy insane and then we're all left, hanging our mouths to be put back into our cheeks.

I call this game a half-anomaly.

A lot of us thought it was going to be a dog fight for a minute and then the separation was going to happen.

Just not to this exaggeration on the scoreboard.

The Colts imploded on the field is what happened.
Pretty simple. They handed us a great field position more than once and the old man under center had one of his worst days. And for that they stayed pretty close for three quarters.

But it's not like it was a safe cruise for us either. It was probably the worst game of our season that ended in a win, despite the score. Dak was really bad yesterday whenever he tried some fancy stuff and sometimes even with the easy throws. But all in all they brought it home nicely. That was one 4th quarter for the ages lol. Colts imploded like I haven't seen before and we kept feasting. I mean you gotta win these kind of games too, right?

This year definitely looks like it could be THE year, but then again so did last season. That's why I'll stick to my strategy of taking it easy and waiting for January. Until then I just enjoy the show. It's cool to see them having fun. The TD salvation army celeb by Dak and Zeke was a riot, loved it. Shove it up your behind Goodell.

If the QB throws the ball, but the defender makes a great play to intercept the ball, who is responsible for the interception? The QB, or the Defender?

I am asking because there were a couple of picks last night that appeared to me as if Dallas just took the ball away. Not to say that Mattie Ice doesn't need to take up residence in his barco-lounger.

If the receiver is bumped off his route and the ball gets picked, is this still the QB? If the receiver falls down before the ball arrives, is the QB still culpable?

At 19-21, the game was in the third quarter and time ticking. Dallas scored another TD. The Colts were then put in a position to perhaps keep up because it appeared Dallas was moving the ball better than at any time during the contest thus far. They (Colts) moved away from the run, changing some of these rushes to screens. Dallas poked the ball out and were off to the races. At that juncture, Dallas was headhunting the QB, which caused him to rush throws, and the DB's feasted.

The Colts were playing well, but when the game began to slip, they were put in a position that Dallas thrives. I understand the Colts are not a good team comment. But they have played some good teams tough. Dallas was as much to blame for the turn around as the Colts being inept.

Cowboys blew them out and hung a 50 burger on them.

Analyze all you want. Looking forward to reading your next post. Can we get refreshments on the back tables?
