With TAMU looking like they're going to the SEC, and the UT Board meeting next week to consider their future in the Big 12-3, it looks more and more like NCAA D-1 football is going to go to four 16-team superconferences.
At first this all was kind of shocking to me, but the more I think about it, I think all the movement may push the NCAA towards a true playoff that has been needed for so long. If we had 16-team conferences, then every league has a championship. It would be pretty simple then to have the winners play two more games to determine a national champion.
The only problem is what would you do with the teams left out of the four conferences. But I'm not too concerned with that yet. I'm more interested in what the four conferences would look like.
How would you align them if you had control?
I'm working on mine, and will post soon.
