Some time back, I posted how frustrated I was with my Dyson V15 vacuum cleaner. I paid over 600 bucks for that thing, figuring I was getting the holy grail of vacuums, but I've had a lot of problems with it. After a little over a year, the floor attachment died, as did the battery. This unit cannot run plugged in. You have to use the battery. I bought a replacement battery and got it to work. Then the very next week, the main unit refused to work, showing me some dumb menu I couldn't get out of. Dyson tech support confirmed that that piece is broken as well. I'm not a tech klutz. Dyson's replacing all the trashed parts, but I get to wait 5 - 7 business days for them.

I can't wait that long to vacuum my place, so I went ahead and bought the Shark ZU503AMZ. When I get my new Dyson parts, I'll decide if I want to keep two vacuums on hand or if I want to sell of the Dyson and just go with the Shark. She Shark is a simpler design, and it's not cordless, but it seems really well built and has plenty suction power. It was a lot less money than the Dyson, but it does the job great. The Dyson is lighter and easier to use for some things (like getting into tight areas), but I don't find the Shark hard to use. I wish I had bought that one a little over a year ago. For a long time, I wasted money on budget vacuums that would konk out after not all that long. I was sick of using crap, plus I had a flea infestation I needed to get rid of, so I was willing to fork over money for the best. Lots of Google searches kept bringing up the Dyson V15, so I thought it was bulletproof. Big mistake! I think all their money must have gone making it light and making it have cutting edge features.

To Dyson's credit, they are honoring the warranty by replacing the parts. Soon that Dyson will be back up and running, but I just don't trust it to take care of my needs long term. Will it just break down yet again when it's out of warranty in 2026? Whoever recommended it, recommended a good one. Thanks.

You're welcome. Glad the vacuum worked out for you. I know you have a pet, I do as well, and the self-cleaning brushroll is a great feature. My vacuum is still going strong, still no complaints here.

I would suggest losing Google for your future searches and use an AI agent going forward. Much better and a more concise response can be expected.
