The NFL reports that The Houston Texans have signed North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams and plan to take him with the first overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Williams becomes the second Texans No. 1 pick in team history.
Williams (6-6, 291), will be taken by the Texans with the first overall pick in the 2006 draft. He becomes the first North Carolina State player to be taken with the first pick in the NFL draft. QB Roman Gabriel was the top overall pick of the AFL draft and went second overall in the NFL draft in 1962.

Totally screwed up pretty much every mock draft on the planet.

N.O. just got one heck of a player dropped in their laps -- or they're gonna get one heck of a trade. Wonder how Reggie Bush feels about playing in N.O? Not really the best football location for a star player looking for big promotion deals, etc especially when the stadium will be half full for games.

We've just heard it in NY....and it's posted on the USA Today website.

All the mocks just went down the toilet.

That's what makes the NFL draft so great.
