Maybe it was the right call to go for 4th down in OT

only was a bad call because Lamb got mugged and no PI called. seems bad now but that 1st down and closer FG or chance at winning with a TD, no 4th down decision would have been needed. obvious only seems bad when it doesn't work.

I have a bigger issue with the play call. As many have already said, if they had already decided they were going to go for it on 4th down, no matter what, then on 3rd down, run the ball!!! We were running the ball well!!! Then on 4th, run it again!! Oh well....not sure if that is on Dak or K. Moore.

...they lost faith in run, at last minute. Personally, the OT should never happened. IF D, does its job.

You go for the FG in that situation.

- You have a great defense. With taking the FG you show that you trust them to not give up a TD in the following drive. And you should trust them because they are a good one and the strength of your team.
- The chances to make the FG are much higher than convert 4th down and 4 yds to go.
- The opposing team came back from a 14 points deficite. Your team needs a positive experience (by taking the lead) and not another nail in their coffin (by missing the 4th down try).
- Your QB played an very average game with a lot of ups and downs. So why trust him in that situation.

Not on this night, maybe MM didn't trust them from preventing GB from scoring.

If you tried for the field goal and the wind took it way right, everyone would be pulling their hair out about McCarthy being too spineless to go for it at that distance. Hindsight is 20/20

I wouldnt have trusted them to not give up another FG. But a TD ? No. You have to trust them just because its the best chance you have: Your defense is your strength. Who you gonna trust ? Your weakness (QB) ?

IMO you setlle for the FG and let it play out.

This is not hindsight. There are a lot of good reasons to go for the FG. If you dont make it thats unlucky. But to not try it is plain stupid.

I thought the same thing until the defense was like a screen door for RBs.

Biggest strength was on the other side of the football last night, they just gave up 2 long TD drives.

it was a poor play call and the line didn't hold up, but you gotta have a more go to play in that situation
