This deserves its own thread because he is our first round pick. I have been very hard on him calling him a bust etc. Yesterday he showed some good flashes. He got off the snap quicker than anyone else on our DL a couple of times and drove his man back and penetrated into the backfield contributing on some tackles near the line of scrimmage. On one play he used a nice swim move and hustled down the line of scrimmage and made a tackle for no gain. There was another play where he showed a burst we haven’t seen and got a big pressure on Herbert resulting in a rushed throw. Let’s just hope this game is the start of him getting it. He played well, finally.

The only problem with Mazi is he's not flashy and fast. He's strong and subtle. That's always been his game. He could look a little flashy in college, but that's relative to the type of athlete he is vs. college-level competition.

If I had a player comp, it'd be Tyrone Crawford, but a little more stout and strong. But that's the flashiest he'll be. He's more of a fence post than anything else.

He hasn't been bad by any means this year. And, you can't expect him to come out of the gates already playing at NFL speed. The real truth is, most of our fans are just bellyaching knuckleheads, quick to criticize young players because they are eager to whine about how bad the draft was, during the first few months of players' rookie years. It ends up biting most of them, but they're never prone to discussing it because it would take away credibility from their next gripe, or mantra which they've already, pre-emptively taken up.

What?

Crawford went 280 and was long and rangy. Mazi is built like a mashing machine. ANd elite 1T looks plenty flashy to me, it looks like nothing Crawford did either.

Yeah I noticed him a couple plays. Be interesting to see how much he played.

One thing Quinn has done some has had him and Hankins in the game at times. Which I absolutely love in certain instances

I hope we don’t draft a player like this for a long long time with a premium pick.

We are getting next to nothing from our draft class.

I'm not sure "subtle" is the trait I want in my DT.

Welp, that O Line he played against last night wasnt particularly good, so if you are going to flash, last night was the night to do it.

He's already a trash can full of dirt and consistently getting more mobile.
