* does he need more from the system to make Dak successful
* does he need more from Dak to make the system successful

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy on Dak Prescott: "No. 1, this system's built on making the quarterback successful. That's the way I learned it 30-plus years ago. So everything we do is built into that. Obviously the starting point of making a quarterback successful is running the football. So we can start right there.

"We need to get more production out of the run game, increase the action pass opportunities. And then from that, take it to the next step and that's the pass protection, and obviously the pass perimeter.

"It's about making him successful. If anything, I would guard against asking him to feel like he has to do more than he's already doing. He just needs to really focus in on playing quarterback. He's a great worker. He's super diligent. And we'll get to where we need to get to."

Mike covering his buns.
Hard to argue with this statement .....,......you could be right

this system is built on making the quarterback successful. That's the way I learned it 30-plus years ago

Keep in mind, he also said turnovers are holding the offense back. Who leads the team in turnovers.......?

Remember he endorsed the current running backs a couple of weeks ago. According to him......they just need more opportunities

Translation: "We need to run the ball better. We do that, play action passes will lead to splash plays to CeeDee and Ferguson. We need to pass protect and run block better. This offense is the same offense any Bill Walsh based offense is running (that includes San Fran, the Rams, and Green Bay) and the offense always makes the QB look good. We need to tighten up and the QB will be successful." (Big Mike voice)

I don't think he really values the running game because every time it starts getting momentum he abandons it.
True ........it's been a while since we had RB rush for over 100 yards in a game. What's even crazier is I think Dak's record with an RB rushing over 100 yards is pretty high.

Yep Montana Farve Rodgers unfortunately Dak isn’t close to them and running has never been a priority for MM. He endorsed the RBs so now it’s time to ask Dak to do less is what he’s saying as well as starting his scapegoat campaign. He’s got to be careful with the 60 million dollar man Jerry won’t be happy if he starts taking shots at Dak. MM is brilliant he sets up the QB to succeed I guess the rest of NFL HCs set theirs up to fail. Every time MM opens his mouth he sounds dumber and dumber. The same offense Dak has run for 9 seasons with little change from MM and now he’s saying the QB needs to do less, boy can Jerry pick yes men
