I have no idea why this guy isn't ranked higher. He's my favorite offensive lineman for us to pick, because he likely projects at guard, but I think he could play any position on the line except center. He's got 35 inch arms, compared to Torrence at 33 1/4, so Curtis could play tackle and guard.

Not only that, the guy is really big. I'm not talking about taking him in the first round, although I could see someone like Belichick taking him there. I wouldn't be disappointed if we took him in the second round, though. Dude has some serious strength and his technique isn't all that bad.

He played mostly guard at Chatanooga, but he also played tackle at the Senior Bowl.

In a lot of respects, he reminds me a lot of Tyler Smith, because he gets by on his physical ability and could use some work as far as technique.

Most importantly, he fits our new culture.

His game is still very raw is why he isn’t being hyped up. He had very bad tape against Illinois and that’s the game I watched on him and that is going against the elite level of talent.

Slower feet, doesn’t get to the second level well. Everything I’ve read and from what I agreed on most reports I have read is that he excels in a wide-zone heavy offensive scheme from those a little more educated than myself.

He will make a team and go higher as the versatility and size are hard to find.

I like him too, but I wonder if they get scared off taking another small school prospect after getting nothing out of Tolbert year 1.

In my opinion, a Guard can play day one if he has the NFL strength, can get by while learning proper technique.

I don’t believe he is ready to come in and be a plug and play starter at LG. He likely needs a year or two to develop and get up to the NFL speed. His tape against Illinois was not great.

It's fine to take a developmental guy, especially having a plan when Martin decides to hang it up.

Oh no absolutely. He can play left side, right side, tackle or guard. This team love’s versatility.

I just think some here think he can walk in day one and start LG but he needs to develop behind Martin for a year

Same school Cole Strange came from.

I like him because of his potential position flex.

Still holding out hope on Tolbert.

I've noticed you and I have a lot of similar takes on several players.

I wasn't impressed with him all that much at LT when I saw him there, as far as pass blocking. But he has some power in the run game.

His coach says he's probably the most talented player he's ever coached and that includes Strange.

2nd round may be too high, but I can't exclude him any round after the first.

I think he probably is a late 3rd, early 4th rd prospect. Nobody truly knows how the OL is going to shake out this upcoming season, but we do know, 2 future starting Guards are needed. Heard they want to plan for the Martin transition, better then they did with Tyron. Hearing also that Mafi from UCLA, he being viewed much higher with the actual scouts, compared to the media draft sites, could be a day 2 selection.

Think Tolbert will be fine, believe they through too much at him as a rookie. WCO should be far easier as all those option routes will be eliminated.

I like him. Strong with long arms (35") and big hands (10-1/4").

I don't see him playing OT in the NFL.

He looked good on most of the reps in this Senior Bowl practice.

Side Note: Darnell Wright was the clear winner in those 1-on-1 drills of all the OLinemen.

Hard to really evaluate him vs Illinois because the entire Chattanooga OLine and team in general was overwhelmed.
- One of his issues was that he tried to do too much. He often wanted to help the OC & the OT on the same play...

I think we just saw this season, if you are NFL strong enough, willing to work, you can play right away in this league. Give him NFL coaching and he could start early in his career.

I get your point, but I wouldn't use Tyler Smith as a comparison for any OLinemen in this draft.

  • Tyler Smith
    • Tyler is physically on a completely other level.
    • Tyler was already more powerful than Zack Martin as a rookie.
    • Martin had to work vs Vita Vea.
    • Tyler while standing flat-footed tossed Vita Vea to the ground like a rag doll.
Broderick Jones is the only OL in this draft that is anywhere close to Tyler's blend of LT athleticism and big OG type power.

Funny, Jones is my favorite lineman in the class

Jones and Skoronski are complete opposites.

Skoronski: Elite technique/fundamentals but limited athleticism and short arms.

Jones: Elite athleticism with long arms but technique/fundamentals are a complete mess.
