Monopoly game in the 1990s that offered spoils like new cars, vacations and even a grand prize of $1 million, turns out you never really had a chance to win."If you played McDonald's mega-popular Monopoly game in the 1990s that offered spoils like new cars, vacations and even a grand prize of $1 million, turns out you never really had a chance to win.

McMillion$[/a], a thrilling six-part HBO series produced by Mark Wahlberg that digs into the wild scam behind the famed promotion, one involving FBI stings, mobsters, drugs and, naturally, Ronald McDonald. "No one really had a chance, and I think that's one of the reasons why we’re so captivated, and why so many people are captivated by this story," explained the series' other co-director, Brian Lazarte. "For 12 years, how is it possible that this whole thing was essentially a lie in front of us?"

Wonder if any type of class action lawsuit will ever be filed?

Guess we'll have to watch the doc to see why it was impossible to win anything over $25,000. I assume the various properties were scattered where the odds of one person getting the necessary ones to win were astronomical.

I'll probably end up giving this a watch; but out of curiosity any cliffs out there about what the doc revealed?

In a nutshell, there was a character called "Uncle Jerry".
He supposedly stole all of the high value pieces in the manufacturing process.
He then gave the winning pieces to family, friends/etc.

Well...if anyone didn’t know how games work by now “yes..one piece in NYC and other New Mexico old nuclear testing site gas station”? Then got some other scams to unlid for them they might not like. Everything from parking garage rates to hookers. Now there a episode to do...massage parlors and hookers. Oh and best one..”hostess bars” where Asian girls lure you outside and bring in. That happened to me once. That one is the worst scam of all. $$$ Wind up buying 9 girls shots at $10 a pop. And they drinking plum wine? Loooool. Never fall for that again.

I read the full story a couple years ago when it was trending, it's all pretty crazy.

If you want to know all about what happened, then here's a link to the full story:

I already knew the back story as I read the story a few years ago. Still, I watched the 1st episode last night and will see the rest. Wahlberg does a good job in telling the story.

I had a sister-in-law that worked for McDonald's years ago that used to give me handfuls of those game pieces. At that time, I mostly cared about getting the free Big Mac's, fries, soda's, and not so much the money. Believe me, I won a lot of free food and drinks during that time.
